San Jose hotel room breakin attempt caught on camera

A woman visiting San Jose on business was in her hotel room when someone started trying to open her door from the outside using a bizarre device, and she caught the terrifying experience on video. Robert Handa reports.

We have a doorstop that has an alarm when pushed that we use when we travel. You just place it and set the sensitivity level. Stay safe out there.

A second safety mechanism that can only be activated when you are inside for added security! Imagine you are sleeping and strangers is at the foot of the bed!😬 It's scary just thinking about it! 😫

I drive for doordash and I see weirdos around the hotels all the time .... We do take photos in case any food comes up missing so see if any delivery drivers were in the building ....

She was in extreme danger and doesn’t seem to realize it!!! 💯 This is NOT funny. Sometimes people want a person, not things. Trafficking is a real thing that happens. They may have been targeting her.

I used to work at a hotel and maintinace has this too for this when the batter goes dead in the lock. They also have a tool to open the flip lock. It was probably someone that had hotel maintinace experiance.

If you ride the light rail you know this hotel - it's the large, light green one where the most "interesting" people get on and off the train. Bigtime human trafficking area, and as for the 7-11 in that area, the guys working there deserve combat pay. This area around this hotel is where you go to people-watch, and to learn that streetwalkers are still very much a thing. This is the one hotel you want to avoid at all costs.

I still remember when someone came in my room at 2:30 in the morning. The guy walked in and I pointed my .44 at him and he walked out. Had the nerve to call the police.

This woman could have been murdered, raped, strangled, robbed, etc, and she's laughing about it. A small taste of what is so wrong with this country.

Something like that happened to me in Spokane a couple years ago. I just grabbed the thing and yanked it out of their hands. They bolted and left me the slimjim, and a set of rakes and wrenches. I scored about $250 usd worth of their lock picking tools, the irony is that the most valuable thing that I had was an old cd player that I got at a thrift store.
To this day I think it was a janitor or security guy who worked at the hotel.
