I appreciate the techno-optimist timeline of progress, but this presents AI growth advancing slower than a linear rate...it's an exponential technology currently solving areas of narrow intelligence at a staggering pace. The number of experts in the field projecting AGI before 2030 is substantial, so don't be shocked when these estimates end up being 30-40 years too conservative...

Remember when the internet was known as the information superhighway? What did people do when they got access to the sum of all human knowledge at their finger tips (smartphones)? They used it to spread misinformation and watch cat videos.

Is Terminator really happening? If your name is John Connor, we need to keep you safe!

I'm glad you changed the name & thumbnail of the video. It makes it feel more ambiguous, and leaves more up for interpretation upon first glance.

As AI progresses, the one single variable that has the power to eventually turn the future sentience on humanity is the financial incentive. Financial trading companies will invariably want to use more and more powerful AI's to make more and more money with cold, calculating precision. Any sentience derived from such an ideology will inextricably evolve anti-social and sociopathic behaviors and thoughts. Most of today's AI systems are built specifically for the accumulation of wealth. Aside from the few being trained to help people in medical and psychological landscapes - the vast majority of modern AI's are going down the path necessary to produce sociopathic/psychopathic intelligence. If we want a future with friendly, helpful, and loving machine companions - we need to consider other modes for resource allocation and distributions that don't require the easily perverted and abusable financial incentive.

Good video ngl, here’s a theory this is a video about AI’s future made by an AI 🤷🏽‍♂️

Guys, this video feels like it was written 5 years ago and hasn't taken any account of anything that's happened since. Your comments about how AI would increase demand for creatives, engineers and data scientists (when those are the jobs most at risk from currently developing GenAI systems) and that low-level jobs would be most at risk (when they likely to be the least at risk because robotics is lagging so far behind AI) is a massive red flag.

This video is highly outdated, this was the perception of AI evolution before November 2022

The artificial intelligence revolution will be a radical change in humanity on all planes of existence. We are fortunate to participate in this historical period.

"Increases demand for creatives, engineers and data scientists" Creatives are already being replaced by AI and with how AI is getting better and better at programming, its likely that tech workers will be as well. Hardware needed to replace plumbers and such can be expensive, but once an AI is created it can be used anywhere, so these jobs that require little hardware are easier to replace in a sense.

We dreamed that AI would replace the more mundane jobs, I get it. I was also optimistic about AI. Maybe we still can be about the long term. But you have to look at how it is actually unfolding now. It hasn't ushered in post-scarcity. As long as capitalism exists, AI is going to be used for evil

This is like every sci-fi dystopia slowly coming true...for me my concerns is always with said "low-level" worker's, specially in the less developed countries, we are already treated like less the human, image the moment the big people won't need us anymore. Most of us also don't have the money or even inclination to go to college and became an engineer or what have you, and that's still no guarantee of a stable life.

في المستقبل البعيد وبفضل التكنولوجيا المتقدمة سوف يتساوى الخيال مع الواقع ويمتلك الإنسان قوى الآلهة ليحول الكون والأكوان المتعددة إلى جنة خالدة ❤

This is a very pessimistic timeline. We could hit the singularity before 2050

3:45 So far it is the oposite.
Humans are needed for cleaning and loading the shelves, but the AI can create, design and analyse.

The statement “has enabled AI to think more like humans” is wrong — not by a long shot. Kind regards, a computer scientist who researches AI.

It's hard to choose between apocalypse options: nuclear, climate or matrix.

"Increases demand for creatives, engineers and data scientists". I mean... given enough data and learning capabilities, AI will be able to do a lot of engineering work and a lot of data science. Considering they can process data so much faster. There'll probably be a much much much bigger demand/usage for those in blue collar work, Electricians, Plumbers, Construction workers.

I can't tell if the tone of this video is meant to be aspirational or terrifying. For me some of this seems great, other parts of it very worrying.
