The Latin diphthong AE evolved into the "e", that's why aestus ended up as estus.

"Vereor Nox" is basically the opposite of what the Locus preacher says.
"Fear NOT the dark, my friend (and let the feast, begin)"

I would've never knew that "Estus" and "Manus" held any meaning in Latin without this video. Keep up the great content!

One reason why I would 100% use Latin (and maybe Greek) if I make a video game is because it just sounds fking badass.
I know all the terrible things the Roman Empire and SPQR had done, but Latin words have a grandeur attached to them.
Latin, if compared to a type of villains, would be extremely composed, courteous and intelligent, while having a formidable force of henchmen obeying him.

In the japanese original text Reah is just saying "by the guidance of fire/may the flames guide you" as many other npcs in dark souls, so I don't know why the english translators decided to came up with vereor nox 🤷🏻‍♀️

but this does make me wonder if "vereor nox" was written that way deliberately, or if the latin was written by people with insufficient skills, and they simply did not know that vereor should be followed by an accusative to arrive at that meaning?
