This shouldn't be an issue on a program that costs hundreds of dollars a year.

I found something that worked for me. On your timeline where there is the control for V1 and V2 etc, click on the blue for V1 or whichever, so that it is no longer blue. Then it will probably work.

Summary of the video which worked for me:

After launching premiere pro, immediately hold alt and shift for windows, or option and shift for mac. Click on yes to clear cache when a small window appears.

Any ways thank you VideoRevealed! This video helped me understand what codecs are and containers.

Love your new organized graphics outlining objectives and solutions, and you are also always using your cursor to show what you are doing in the program and not assuming, and, writing a summary of your solutions ... me thinks you have been not only attentively listening to your crowd, BUT also adopting the changes they are asking. Congrats on your production Mr Wizard ! Oh and should add your tech solutions are always on the Mark ...

THE FUNNIEST THING IS THAT Premiere Pro 2022 DOES ADD AUDIO AND VIDEO IF YOU ADDING TWO OR MORE CLIPS INTO TIME LINE SIMULTANEOUSLY. IF YOU ARE ADDING ONLY ONE IT STILL ADDS ONLY AUDIO!

Interesting. While none of your solutions worked for me - your explanations got me to thinking and I came up with a solution that worked - thanks to your explaining what the possible problems could be!

I had created a 4K mp4 video with my computer's camera. I was able to import it into my Adobe project but I could not move it to the timeline.

After watching you talk about the codecs, it gave me an idea. So I brought the video into Adobe's media encoder and simply encoded it using the default suggestions it gave me for formats. I then dropped the re-encoded video into my project and it worked perfectly!

Just thought I'd post that here for anyone else who might be having similar problems.

Thanks for your video!

Thanks to your troubleshooting tips, I was able to solve my problem. I shut down Premiere, cleared the cache (option+shift on Mac) upon re-opening. Then opened the files in QuickTime, selected export as 1080 p and then Greater compatibility (H.264). Imported the files back into my Premiere project file and I can see and hear every thing. Using the latest update of PP. Thanks, you're a lifesaver!

MY question is this: I only have the "AUDIO ONLY" issue when adding a video clip to a project that's currently open and being worked on but ie: adding a mp4 file that i forgot in the beginning, if i remove all of the clips and start from scratch its fine but i can't add new video if its not all imported at once. Any help here? -SYLANT

If you're still having issues with importing vids, make sure "V1" is turned on for the clip you want to drag into your timeline... The problem I've been having for months was a button away...

Best 12 minutes spent, thank you. For me it worked with the plugin cache reset.

Dude, this video saved me hours of troubleshooting. I use a desktop computer and am importing a video into Premier Pro. The key for me was that you have to re-import the video file after doing alt shift.. the original imported video still does not work but re-importing after the alt shift does work
