It needs a longer tool rest turned around to be closer to the wood for better tool control.

I have just obtained one of these for mini wood turning. You need to do two things differently:

Set the toolrest closer to your workpiece.

Use your tools like chisels, NOT like scrapers as you are doing. You should produce nice continuous shavings when shaping your wood, NOT dust.

To anyone wondering on an effective way to keep the lathe from moving around no need to bolt it down. All you need are simple rubber toolbox liners.

⚠ Turn the tool rest around so it sits closer to the wood. As is, you'll break the tool when the wood bites, or the tool will fly off across the room.

Bro, you could make a MUCH better and bigger one. It's a 775 dc motor and they give that space for wood? It's capable of much more!

I would replace this motor with sewing machine motor with pedal 220v 7000-10000u/min
Pedal can be a safety part of machine😉
This motor is approx. Same size

You did not show the table saw feature. Thats what that plastic on the other side is for. The slot on top is for the saw blade to come through.
