🏔 Have we reached peak smartphone? Where do we go from here? How can phones get better?

One day the flagships will bring back the headphone jack, and only then can we say we're at peak smartphone.

I hope battery and thermal throttling issues will ve resolved in the S23 series. Then I can say smartphones have reached a peak. After that minor improvements will go on.

One area where things are still improving a lot I think is modems and networking. I kind of live near a dead spot on T-mobile where I used to not get 5g on my s20, even just up till like a week ago, but my s22 still gets usable 5g reception there. It's not sexy but it's real.

I think iPhone and S22 series are really good. I think they will find minor ways to upgrade them, but honestly, people should start keeping their phones for 2-3 years instead of thinking they need the latest one just because it has a new number on it. I have the 13 Pro and the S22 and both are examples of near perfection.

They should just do releases once every 2 years. Another idea is to innovate on the battery side of things. Would be great to see 2-day (or even 3-day) battery life becoming the norm.

But here’s the other argument, phone price has sustained or decreased during a period of high inflation, where basically everything has increased in price.

So yeah, yearly phone updates are incremental but prices don’t go crazy either.

Except for the phones that are crazy innovations, Samsung’s Fold for example, but that has decreased in price also

i mean slowing down hardware wise was bound to happen, they're literally tryna make a hand held have as much performance power as a laptop, while making the battery last at least 8 hours of use.

I'm totally fine with my s20+ and the camera is nice. All i want is a better battery (can only squeeze 3-4h screen on time here) and an sd card slot support. Very sad about how each new flagship line is just a downgrade over previous one now

There are SO many things they can add, we barely touched the tip of the iceberg. It's the profits game rather than lack of innovation- innovation costs and there's too little profits with each new added feature.

Is it worth getting this over over say the A12 if m current phone is a S9+ I've had since basically it came out? I've been looking to upgrade it finally, even more so as I recently dropped it on accident and the screen was damaged, and I don't really feel like paying for a screen repair on it is a better choice than an upgrade to a more recent model with better specs and storage and what not.

I don't get any light notifications... is this right or did I overlook that setting?

2k in 6.1 inches would be just bullshit. Only for VR it would make Sense. The screen is so awesome and so stupidly bright - why more? Just because its "more flagship" even its useless, unseeable in reallife? I like that its "just" 1080p. Even after a few months im still surprises how bright the screen get's. In full sunlight in spain i can read the screen like in my flat. And after one week the battery lasts ober one day - 12-29% battery left at bedtime.
I only miss the 10times zoom from the S21 ultra. But i will get over it because i can reach everything onehanded. And what i appreciate the most: it feels like an iPhone - premium build. Didnt expect that this takes my attention the most.

My perfect phone would be an all rounded phone wit 108mp camera, headphone jack, expandable memory, 120hz ltpo panel, bigger battery like 5000, 256 internal memory, 8gig ram, small size. I dont like the idea of carrying around a brick to get all the features

They should focus more into the FE's maybe and other midranges. Those are the one that get in the sales I think. Great video 👍🏾
