In this clip I review the 1 liter turbo and 125 hp Ford engine that comes in a Focus Mk3.5, but as the review focuses on the engine and not the car, it also applies to Fiesta, Puma, EcoSport, B-Max, C-Max, Transit Courier and Mondeo.

Chapters:
0:01 - Overview of the engine, history and some technical details
5:31 - Engine reliability issues
6:19 - How does the engine look under the hood
7:06 - Test driving the engine (includes fuel consumption data)
13:03 - Conclusions

Thank you!
Very detailed review touching all my doubts on the engine, also confirming them.
I doubt this would suit the C-max very well for mainly highway commute.

They also suffer oil starvation problems . The wet belt breaks up and blocks the oil pickup.

I have ford focus 2019, it’s nice and you can change drive modes and you can change that to whatever you feel like driving, fantastic. It doesn’t, like you said accelerate on highways and uphill, if the long way up, you will feel it on the accelerator 😂. I felt the noise on the highways too, and I thought it might be cause of tires, which I haven’t checked. For the cities, it’s great and I love the engine noise 😂

I dont get why people are skepticle of small engines in larger cars, a small turbocharged engine can make the same power and torque as a larger one and deliver peak torque in the lower rev range making them more comfotable to drive. As well as the engines themselves being lighter. It is not a new trend and people act like its some sort of new alien concept lol

Still got issues on newer 2015 facelift got one thats leaking coolant AVOID this engine and theres no low coolant warning sensor! The mk4 focus/mk8 fiesta has a updated version which seems to be better now uses timing chain and other changes

Does the latest version of the engine have a timing chain or belt?

I have a 2020 Puma with 1.0 Ecoboost B7JA engine. It’s relatively new, with 23k km. Should I expect something bad to happen to it in the future?

I don't know which one u guys have been driving, I've got the 2013 ford focus ecoboost titanium 1.0 turbo charged 125bhp, it's been 9 years no problem, and I live in the UK, if your use to driving cars with bigger engines and better bhp the smaller engine will always seem not good, it's really nippy and fast and really good on the corners
