You're either a 'champagne socialist' or it's 'politics of envy' says James O'Brien who disputes the idea that recognising the state of the economy is 'talking the country down'. Also @Velvet_Curtain tweeted 'To cover the mortgage rates in the 80s/90s. I bought my house in 1993, mortgage interest rates were 8-9%, much higher than now. But, my house only cost 2.5x my salary, so was not easy, but was affordable. House price to income ratio now is scary.'

What about criticism in the government's cabinet? Has that been stifled too? Seems that there is nobody with a scintilla of empathy therein who questioned the content of the recent budget. Perhaps they are gathered just to be nodding donkeys and no-one thought of its consequences. Makes you wonder about other ministerial announcements !
