When I was 8 yo, my mum was pregnant. I hated the question, if I want a sister or a brother, as if I had a saying in that... I wanted a bigger brother (obviously not possible) or a little sister (in fact, what I really wanted, was a dog, not a sibling at all). And I got.... a little brother...

He's the best sibling I could imagine and I love him (and his wife and daughter) dearly.

Home births are rare in Germany. But you can go to the hospital. Then the midwife will do the preparation and aftercare. She can answer all questions and also has a lot of good advice.
In the countryside it also happens that 112 (European emergency call for ambulance and fire engine)
has to be called if a birth is unexpectedly premature.
We also have an ambulance specially equipped to carry out births.
Most of the time, the child is healthy before the hospital is reached.
But a scheduled birth is certainly more pleasant than having to do it suddenly.
A ready-packed bag is definitely a good idea when things have to go fast.

Willa's face when you told her cracks me up. She's like "Sister? That wasn't the deal!" LOL

Congratulations on such happy news!! As an American married to a German, I've had three births here in Germany and feel like I understand the system really well now. If you have any questions, please let me know!! :)

I know if the baby is only half as adorable as Willa is, there will be a cuteness overload in your family.

I have four kids (girl, boy, twin girls) and during my second pregnancy we considered a birth center but because those have no doctors, they aren't allowed to give any medicine. I ended up having a strep B infection (that's one of the things they check during those check ups with a smear test) and needed antibiotics during the birth - so hospital it was.
I was supposed to deliver the twins naturally but one of them went into stress during contractions (heartbeat went down constantly) and to be sure we all came out of that alive I needed a C-section.
Just wanted to leave a comment to show that even if you're super healthy and have a perfect pregnancy, complications come up and you need a hospital. Luckily birth centers usually have an ambulance waiting outside (I hope it's like that everywhere) just in case something goes wrong. So that might be a good alternative to a home birth.
Wishing you all the best ❤️

Juhu!🎉 A sister for Willa! 👱‍♀️👱‍♀️ Wonderful news! 💗
Birthing centre or hospital are the safest options for sure.

I'm so happy for you guys another girl is wonderful. I'm sure Willa will be thrilled once she gets to hold her little sister. I'm also glad that you are rethinking the home birth idea. You and baby will be in the best hands in a Hospital or Birthing Centre. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the pregnancy goes and can't wait to welcome the baby. xxxx

Phew! I'm actually really happy that you have decided to not give birth living on the countryside. So much can happen to you and the little one during birth and it's such a relieve to know that you can get help asap if needed. Btw, from my experience if something looks like you'll need to go to the hospital rather than the birthcenter (since not all of them have doctors available), they'll drive you there instead..
Congrats on the little baby girl! :)

I attended the birth of my Goddaughter in Keilheim, Bavaria at a birth center. It was a terrific experience! (She is now 21!). God bless all four of you and my heartfelt wishes for your continued joy! Jerri

Aw, such a sweet video. A friend of mine gave birth at a birth center and she absolutly loved it. You are young and healthy and allready had a birth without any complications. So chances are good that you get a clearance for a home birth or a birth center

I never would risk the Life/Health of the new Baby/Mother outside of a Hospital!!
We have 2 child’s and we had complications they you can’t see before!!
Home Birth is more a Romantic Aspect from the Mother for me! GL 👍

Risa, you'll be just fine here, do not worry. Sure, things are different to home, but you just have to trust we also know what we are doing when it comes to pregnancy.

Nice that you now have certainty and know what it will be, it is important that the baby is healthy and that everything is fine with mom and baby, no matter what it ends up like, girl or boy. So congratulations on the daughter, of course, but now Tanner is clearly outnumbered.
So cute to see you all so happy, i wish you all the best.

Yes u still got time to think about it.
The hospital really is not a bad option here
But if u want to go to the birth center thats also a good option
I just think givibg birth at home in march in the southern germsn country side u hsve a high risk being on your own there

Homebirth is safe, when mother and baby are completely healthy and there are no complications in the pregnancy. Your midwife is well trained and will organize a transfer to a hospital when she sees something is going to get pathologically. You will choose the right thing for your family ♥️

I really appreciate you guys letting us be a part of your journey. We have 3 kids and we're done but I'd be lying if I said that I don't miss all the excitement of expecting a baby. So it's fun to experience it a little through you. My wife was considering a home birth for our second and third child but ultimately we're glad that we went to the hospital. There were always some complications with the births and being at the hospital mitigated them somewhat. But I'm sure that you will make the right decision. All the best for you.
