I have a few videos on number systems. They're great, but take a bit of time to master and set up. No way around that. But in case you're hell-bent on not using a system, here are a few tips to help make a number stick when in a pinch.

Great ideas! I have a system where I convert numbers to letters and you can very easily remember like phone numbers etc! I once remembered 550 digits of pi with this self-developed system. It took me a couple of weeks and I didn't do it that actively. It splits the number sequence into chunks of 3 and I have a letter corresponding to each number twice. So a number can be either a consonant of a vowel depending whichever makes a better word idea to your head. Then do a story out of the generated words and place 1-2 chunks into one memory palace location.
