This past fall (2016) I purchased the larger model of this blower with the 30" cut and 420CC engine. It is hands down, the best snow blower I've ever used or even seen in action. I would recommend one to anyone. Great video. Thanks for posting.

just bought a used troy bilt snowblower off of facebook marketplace a few days ago, because I think we're going to have a bad winter here and I just don't have the health to be out shoveling all day. Got some fixing up to do on it, but I'll have it ready before the snows come. But I just realized that this blower is a 3 stage 😮 kept wondering why the auger system was different, never saw one that I can remember. Looks just like the auger setup on yours though.

Cant wait to use my Troy bilt 3 stage aswell! Can you do maintenance and end of season videos? I would like to learn how to maintain my Troy bilt snowblower.

I have a troy-built 2 stage, and I live in Maine. It will chew through the plowed snowbank at the end of my driveway even if its 4 feet deep. People see what it can handle and don'y believe it. Best snowblowers ever, electric start, heavy enough to get traction, great tires from the factory, 5 years never serviced once except to check the oil and fill her up. Never a problem, will start in -40 degree weather with two fingers in the pull start. The Rolls Royce of snow removal. throws it far! no high snowbanks on the driveway edges either.

The barrel and chute were only tacked together in 4 spots. It broke apart. It now has 12 1" welds around it.

What a nice looking place. I'd love to live in New Hampshire in a place like that.

It would have been nice to see the snowblower run in real-time for more than 15 secs at the end instead of sped up!! Can’t really hear if it struggled or see if it had good traction while chewing thru the snow.

Worlds best snow blower is seeing a man stepping out the back door of his work place with a compressed air hose about 35 ft long . The hose was spraying out compressed air at over 100 psi ! WOW ! that was certainly one hell of a snow blower !

I have the Vortex 3090 3 stage Troybilt and it does well with all types of snow, I noticed that the shear pins are very soft and I hit something hard I blow a pin. It is cheaper & better than rebuilding the auger gear box, I buy my shear pins on Amazon 24 pins at a time.

Still love my Ariens. I hate seeing all the plastic on machines these days. Love having a metal chute and the thing is a beast.

Troy-Bilt is the bomb!! My Troy-Bilt rototiller is 12 or 13 years old and has never once, failed to start on the first pull❤

It is the crazy wet snow we are getting in Canada. Does this throw that? My current 8hp snow blower will not throw it at all.

I got the Troy Bilt 3090XP 3 stage, 30" 420cc. AC start, Electric Chute control. Love it. Think I paid $1500 5 years ago. seems 3 stage blowers are atypical in the Wash. DC area. Cub Cadet I believe took over the design. It's a Big Blower. Tires get good traction for plowing Up hills. My driveway is 900 ft. long with a rather steep hill. Fashioned a Sulky to haul my ass and it does OK on the flatter areas. Steering is a handful in deep snow but will chug thru 2 feet which is the max I've used it in. Burned two Auger belts (Heavy Chugging) and sheared 3 pins (Transmission is solid). Advice: Don't load it down to the max, driving at highest speed in 2 ft of snow is FUN (Mo Powa!), but the auger belt may smoke a bit. The second belt can be swapped in 20 mins, have one available. The Drive belt has survived so far. Didn't do that well in 1" of slush, not enough volume to keep the chute loaded but why bother? Be sure to not leave fuel in the tank over the summer and it will start right up next year.

If you sped up the video a little more spring would come and the snow would go away by itself. I've seen videos of the "third stage" throwing snow everywhere at the end of a run which would be a pain in the ass to clean up. I have an old Honda track blower that starts first time with no need for a primer and will push a solid slug of slush out the chute at idle so it don't plug. It is the first snowblower I've ever owned and may be the last one I'll ever need.

Hi Guys, It's not clear to me how many shear pins the Vortex 2890 has. The Operator's Manual shows one shear pin for the right auger, one shear pin for the left auger and one shear pin for the center auger (page 19). Then it goes on to say that "On 3-stage units, there is an additional shear pin in the rear accelerator." I don't see a place for a fourth pin. Do I have to disassemble or remove anything to find it? Thanks in advance. I had to replace the shear pin for the third stage I noticed it was missing. I'm hoping that one missing pin will solve my problems. Oh! Never mind. When I tipped the unit back on the handles I could see the fourth shear pin. :-)

I really have enjoyed mine (same model), but now in its 3rd season and seems to not work as well. I replaced the drive belt, which had worn out. Now even though everything seems to be fine with all of the blades and impeller, it has been mostly just pushing the snow around. Any ideas welcome.

I have the same snowblower. Recommended by CR. It cannot handle wet or icy snow. That will clog the shute continually. Can handle deep fluffy snow, but we often have temps in the mid 30's after a storm, so the snow is slushy at the base. Not a good showblower for that circumstance, which is what we have usually in southern Pa.

My question is how did you get this beast up on the deck?

I am using the same snowblower and it seems the shear pin of the inner central augur is broken, I am not able to replace it, any advice? The snowblower still works fine but I think the the throw is somewhat less and snow seems to jam at the back end.
