A Mature & Elegant Two-Fragrance Collection

Here are two fragrances I’ve been wearing a lot recently. Both are from Chanel and I think they make a great pair for a two-fragrance collection.

First is Sycomore. Now you might think because of the name that it’s a very woody scent. But this is actually a vetiver fragrance. Vetiver can run the gamut from grassy to smoky and this one is definitely more on the grassy side. It’s one of the most elegant and softest vetivers I’ve ever smelled — reall subtle notes of cedar and vanilla. Simple but intriguing. Perfect daily wear.

Next is Pour Monsieur. I started wearing this 25 years ago and just recently rediscovered it. First spray — huge burst of lemon and lavender. But that softens really quickly and becomes a very classic, classy, and elegant mature gentleman’s scent. You can wear it all day but think it shines brightest as an evening fragrance.

Just picked up Pour Monsieur and agreed it’s great—an interesting yet wearable Chypre perfect for warmer weather and feeling like a gentleman.

Sycomore is excellent too, though my favorite Vetiver these days is Vetiverissimo from Fzotic—it really highlights the many facets of Vetiver: grassy, woody, smoky, earthy.

I’m about halfway through my bottle of Sycomore that I picked up about ten years ago. It’s such a beautiful fragrance. I don’t reach for it often but, on the right occasions, it really does shine.

Pour Monsier smells like a lemon tart in a good way for me. For me it's the perfect winter-spring transition fragrance. Will have to check out Sycamore! - Han

Love pour monsieur but if you ask me, my tip is Coromandel EDP, it smells very similar but more complex and lasts double to triple. But it's also more expensive. So if budget is an issue get pour monsieur it will make you happy ❤
