How I fixed my computer Disk Signature Collision

I re-installed windows operating system, then my 1 TB drive won't show up in Windows Explorer. Under Computer Management it is saying the disk is offline as there is a signature collision with another disk. This video shows how I fixed this issue. If you decided to follow this solution I'm not liable with data lost in case something goes wrong.

If you right-click on the "Offline" text in the original disk manager and click "Online", I think it will do the same thing.  Note that if this disk has Windows OS on it that it will no longer boot due to Windows' use of the signature  (using either approach).

My nvme drive s now formatted as a NTFS logical DRIVE. Your procedure got it back on line. Kudos

I would just like to thank you for this well explained and simple procedure. Yes even valid in 2021. In my case I had been ripping apart 2 old Sky boxes for their HDD. Installed one at a time and the second install showed a Disk Signature Collision. Followed the procedures and identified that both 500GB drives had the same ID's. Used the UNIQUEID DISK ID= and changed a single digit. Perfect solution, so big thumbs up and still valid.

I have same error on my offline signature collsion drive? I looked at uniqueid between the 2 disks and they are already completely different??

Hi, thanks for the guide!! One question this procedure works without lose data in the offline disk? My disk is full of data… Second: what number i ll must chose for the disk?

I got a = The specified identifier is not in the correct format.
Type the identifier in the correct format:
in hexadecimal form for an MBR disk or as a GUID for a GPT disk.
