Slow & cozy days on the cusp of autumn | between summer and fall | blackberry picking | DIY candles

Slow living at the end of summer - picking blackberries and tomatoes, spending golden warm evenings in the garden and making scented candles. I chose pumpkin spice, cinnamon and coffee this time - perfect scents to transition into autumn.

You will need:
500g wax
30ml fragrance oil
(Basically to any amount of wax you will need 6% of oil)
Another good rule is that you will need double amount of dry wax to the size of your container.

Melt wax gentle on a boiling water bath. Bring up to 80C/ 176F
Remove from the stove and let it cool to 65C/ 149F and then add your fragrance oils. Stir and wait until it cools down to about 40C/ 104F.

In the mean time prepare your candle jars. You can use any heatproof jars made out of glass or ceramic. Add candle wicks into the middle of the jar and secure in the centre.

Pour wax slowly into your prepared jars & wait for 24 hours before burning!

Thank you for not pretending it's Autumn like a few other creators I've seen. Every season is magical, even winter which is my least favourite.

Videos like yours are short poetic pauses in the bitterness of life. Thanks. 🌹

Hi friends, hope you're having a wonderful week! Does it feel like autumn where you are, or are you still in the middle of summer?
We're having a warm spell here right now, but it still feels like autumn. The atmosphere, the birds, the ripened fruit - everything reminds me of the coming colder days.

Thank you for your gentle thoughts and wisdom. You are so wise to have learned this truth while being so young. Blessings be heaped upon your head.

Thank you for another beautiful video. I love making candles too. After hearing how you press flowers in between book pages I’m going to do the same. What joy to open those pages in the future to find a flower.

I can’t wait for autumn in upstate New York where I live! How I long for pumpkins, gourds, gorgeous maple trees, apple picking, cool, crisp days, cozy candles (my favorite is coffee scent too), reading and baking and just how it touches my soul. It is still very hot and humid and so ready for it to go..This was just what I needed and think I may just start some fall decorating this weekend and “will” fall to come🍁🌻🎃🍁🌻🎃. Is it hard to make candles? Your choices are exactly the scents I love too!

Nostalgic is a perfect word to describe this time of year, as we head into my favorite months!

You will never know how much I needed to hear your words today about not letting one bad thing or remark ruin all the good. Thank you, Daria, for making such lovely and timely videos.
Blessings from Lisa in the U.S.

candles and tea— oh autumn! But August's end is still such a beautiful intersection between the two seasons, themes of goldening green and wistfulness, which you capture so well. Thank you for such peaceful sincere videos!!

My coping mechanism is also staying at home, and I live in beautiful South England, 7 min walking from a beautiful sandy beach and 15 min driving from a nature reserve, and yet, being at home is so cosy. I do get out in nature all the time, but I get the sentiment you are expressing perfectly ❤

your videos of autumn in the midst of endless summer days brings me so much comfort and hope...I've been so over fed with summer that it's simply exhausting and unberable.
I love your crefting ideas and lovely garden, thank you for inspiring.

Your videos are absolutely beautiful! They calm my soul and make my heart sing. Please don’t let the negativity get you down… you are courageous for making the art that you do. I am envious of your home in the English countryside so your videos mean I can enjoy the scenery even if I can’t be there! Thank you. Keep up the beautiful work 😊

I have my tiny garden, which brings me a lot of joy. I have a small space for plants, so I use extra boxes and pots for my gardening experiments 😊

Oh, your kitty is so pretty and has such beautiful eyes! I have a cat too and she’s so sweet and keeps me feeling loved.
I really enjoy watching your vlogs, they are so relaxing and each time I watch, I feel likes it’s been a wonderful journey.🙂

Daria, thank you for another beautifully slow walk through the gentle English countryside. It helps me to slow down and ponder the little things so often overlooked and to just sit and pick up a small needlework project instead of feeling as though I NEED to be working or house cleaning. I am self-employed, so it is often difficult to not feel "obligated" to always be productive professionally, and to just do something simple, quiet and peaceful for myself alone - along with a cup of tea, of course! Which I plan to do after commenting. I hope the remainder of your summer is as beautiful as today's video.

Thank you for yet another beautiful video! Watching it while it softly rains here outside our cottage in the forest and faraway, out at sea, I can hear thunder now and then. (This is an island in the Baltic Sea, and by the way, one can grow a lot in containers while one waits for that place with a bigger garden. And vertically too. I have some land but all my veg. and berries grow in containers as I find it easier to maintain, and I have abundant harvests most years)
