Eliot is anything but a doomsday theorist. He sees it like it is. Activism exists in acts of kindness and generosity, in understanding those who might think differently than us. The massive consumption of social media is encouraging a world of individuals focused on self, and not on community. Great interview, thank you.

This guy is practically saying what nearly everyone is thinking.... even the younger generations innately know that something is not right.... the older generations know without a doubt that things aren't right.... this guy is old enough and educated enough to put nearly all the pieces together....

I like these different videos. I get tired of the drug addictions

My dad is a mathematician. He was a linguist in the Marine corps (just retired after 42 years in 2021). He raised me by himself and did a very good job. He, along with some of his buddies in the corps are doomers also. The stories and theories these guys tell when they're together drinking are absolutely mind-blowing.

Have you ever asked yourself what it really means to say "ignorance is bliss"? This to me is the perfect example. I share many of this gentleman's view points and values and it has always been a heavy burden to carry, knowing that others around you are totally oblivious to the rapidly deteriorating state of our world, while we watch and wait with the gravest of concerns.

He lost me when he said all we need to do is start following what's in the news about this coming catastrophe. If I've learned one thing in the past ten years or so is following the major news, 9 times out of 10 doesn't necessarily bring you to the truth.

I started out with allot of judgement on this gentleman and this topic. The longer I listen I regret my pre-judgement. Great content. A thinker for sure.
Thank you good sir.

He's a reasonable doomer. They're needed. They find scary things and categorize them within different value systems. It's good for perspective.

I guess by the title I had expected someone lost in delusions. Im 12 minutes into the interview and he seems rational and insightful honestly

Me thinking this guy was gonna be a nutter and then agreeing with most of his points…

I'm a lifelong scientist and engineer...also highly educated. Around the time when the fires started happening around 2016, I felt compelled to investigate and examine the climate data and I did a deep dive into the peer reviewed scientific literature. Prior to this, I was aware of climate change for more than 30 years but up to this point, it seemed gradual and linear. Not anymore. To my horror, I reached the same conclusion as Eliot. This was soul crushing. It took me 3 years of deep grief work before I could accept the reality of our near term demise from abrupt climate change. Am I a doomer? I am a realist who is responding realistically to the facts and the data. People in denial are simply too weak to face the horrible truth. Truth is, we will be lucky if a single human being remains on Earth by 2030.

He's not wrong. But the level of comprehension and understanding of what he's saying by people is where the problem will lie.

I've been having these exact same thoughts and theories since I was a young child. And it's hard for me to understand why the majority of the human race doesn't understand it

I think we can all learn something from this guy.

This guy is a hopeless optimist. But a logical pessimist..Which is how we all should be; a realist. His rationality is truly what should be alarming to all of us, because it’s founded on facts, and he’s a a betting person; and he only will put his weight into things that will come out to be true.

And unfortunately, I believe him.. the majority of the population, at least in first world countries, don’t seem to ‘care’ and ‘gloom’ - which he isn’t preaching. He’s not saying to stock up your bunker - the world is ending! He’s deeply hurt by what humans have done to this earth.. and that’s true.

So live your life, enjoy it, and do your best to be happy, and give to others. And accept that we all have an end to us, because… that’s just the way it is. 🎶

Not a doomer, but more of a realist.
Very insightful on what’s going on.

See the book *_The Fate of Empires_* (It talks about the 6 signs of empire decline in an empires last life cycle). It is characterized by...
- An overextended and undisciplined military
- conspicious signs of wealth
- massive disparity between the wealthy and the poor
- overdependence on the bloated state (dependence on social welfair)
- an obsession with sex
- debasement of the currency

I enjoyed Eliot immensely. He described humanity's circumstances perfectly. It would be a pleasure to meet him in person but until then I will subscribe to his channel here. Thank you, Mark.

If human extinction is inevitable then why bother with "saving" the planet?.
