Switching From Amsoil XL to Signature Series. What will Happen?

So I am going to be switching from Amsoil XL to Signature Series. XL is good for 12k miles under severe duty. And a turbo charged engine is technically severe duty. So Amsoil is living up to its claim.

I’ve used Signature Series in all my turbo and non turbo vehicles and still never push 7500. Will be interesting to see your test results. For the price or oil testing I’d rather spend the money on the better formula signature. Exception is my 6.7 diesel I use Signature and a Amsoil filter when I go out and Tow our Airsteam never exceeded 7500. When I get home the vehicle gets fluids and filter changed as it will sit on a battery tender till the next trip or local needs. I use Amsoil HD for storage and it gets dumped out before the trip. Why? Well oxygen even not running attacks the oil. In fact interesting as Fords algorithm shows oil change loss after no run but sitting for a month ? Hmmmm

When I had a 3.5 eco boost I never pushed past 5 k don’t care what it cost. I’ve been an Amsoil dealer for 40 years oil has change and so have engine stress demands on oil. BTW when Amsoil tested its 5W-30 on the Ford ecoboost it was one of the most acidic and oil attacking engines ever run on a dyno. Now we’ve learned a new term LSPI !all from that engine.

If we notice Amsoil is now VERY Cautious about viscosity recommendations only as per manufacturer and as you noticed the 25k mile oil life is within a very small window of vehicles that can work that. Most people are in the Severe Range.

Signature Series has the best additive package ..Amsoil states 700 Hours of engine use as the recommendation for changing it up or 25k miles but hours of use makes more sense .. I change it at 20 k .

I use signature series. I like it, works great for me. I had speedy test my engine oil and amsoil signature series came out awesome.

I use AMSOIL XL and do not pass 7500 miles on my Ford Transit 350 AWD HR. I use Signature Series every other oil change. My engine runs really smooth with any AMSOIL oil. I’ve never used the Power Foam. I’m still contemplating on AMSOIL semi-synthetic oil.

Been using Amsoil SS oil in my 12 mustang gt mt-82 (amsoil synchromesh 5w-30 fluid) since she had 213 miles. Started with 5-30 weight ss for 1st change @ 200 or so miles. Then used the 5-30 for around 32K-38K miles....which included about 15 to 40 full pulls up to/past 145mph @ 6700rpm with rev limiter bitchin....😳 . Not sure why, but i switched to 0w20 0-20 ss ever since. Have 81K now and use 1/2 Q oil between 6mo changes.

I’m confused about oxidation numbers. What is a good and bad number for clean oil and what is a good and bad number for used oil? When is higher better and when is lower better? Or vice versa? Thanks

I use the Amsoil hybrid oil, not quite as good an additive package, but I only go 4k-5k

Seems like if you are going to run the Power Foam in an intake as a cleaning cycle, it makes sense to dump the oil when done as those cleaning agents and some of the crude liberated go into the oil as blow-by?

I switched the PentaStar engines in our family to Signature series and they actually did better on the Amsoil XL... It's why data from a lab is so crucial making the decision. It wasn't night and day difference, but small differences in the wear metals so I decided on the XL instead of the Signature Series in those applications. The oldest PentaStar in the family is a 2012, with 300K on it. Oh and original oil cooler generation 1 design. Still not leaking. So that is why I'm a big thinker that it's people over tightening these that cause them to leak. Yes, some fail on their own, but the majority are caused by their owners or Jiffy-Boob technicians cranking the piss out of them.

What is your opinion on the soon to be released Amsoil semi-synthetic oils..Does it defeat the purpose of Amsoil 's 100% synthetic marketing claim?

Amsoil XL is the best but I’m afraid the new XL they try to make it like signature series diluted and boosted for long intervals.
