For the whole video I was glued to the screen with a gaping mouth. I honestly don't know what kind of message *I* would have chosen to send to outer space but I love that the message that was chosen before I was born was one of love and hope. Truly touching.
Today, with the elections and the general feeling of displeasure the whole situation has brought, it's even more important to understand that we might have different views and opinions but we are all one and the same. We should all be allowed to live and love in peace.
I am quite frustrated truth be told, but I'm trying to set it aside and be the person I want to be - positive - to myself and to others. A sort of "pass it forward" I guess. It's better than to focus on negativity.
Not too long ago I was reminded of the story of the two wolves and since then I've thought about it almost daily. I'll add it bellow as it's quite short and the message couldn't be more clear. I wish others would take this advice to heart and live by it. I think the world would be a better place when WE - each and every one of us - is in a better place him/herself.


An old man tells his grandson - "There are two wolves living within everyone of us, fighting for dominance".

One is EVIL - He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego.
The other is GOOD - He is joy, peace, love hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
"Which wolf wines?" asks the grandson
The old man replies "The one you feed".

So just like a human they chose to ignore the horrible things he has done to his fellow man. For man's entire existence on this planet he has at times killed his fellow man. For a millenia man has brought hate death and cruelty to his own kind. Yet we chose to brush that under the rug. This golden record is essentially a lie by omission. This might as well have been written by a defense attorney. Let's assume that it finds another life form and they have the ability to bend space and time and they say let's go visit these other beautiful beings. And they come. Do you think they will be met with the beauty that's on this record? Do you think even NASA the organization that sent this will meet these other beings with welcoming arms? We can't even get along with each other and we are the same species. How do you think they will be treated. I'm sorry I don't see the same beauty in this as the rest of you. Everyone is forgetting the context of this record. It is supposed to be a representation of not only what we are...but most importantly WHO. I'm sorry this record is a poor representation of that. By the way the radio waves we created preceded voyager. That means Hitlers speeches are much further than voyager. How confusing is that going to be ? It just strikes me as hypocritical to embed love on the record while omitting hate. As that is what beings from somewhere else in the universe would truly be met with if they ever came. I can't stress how wrong this message really is. Maybe some pics of What we did to Dresden during ww2. Or how about a few concentration camps. Maybe some ww1 trenches. Bosnia. Sarajevo. North Korea.Africa tootsie and the Hutto (sp?) Hey maybe we should have included our beautiful highways like the one that ran through Baghdad a few years ago. Red square in China. Or maybe our discovery of t& atom. You know Hiroshima. Nakasagi.Or maybe our peaceful use of the atom like Chyrnoble or the little problem with Japan's nuclear plant. Let's not leave out historical seafarers the vikings people always loved it when they visited. Let's not leave religion out. Like what we did to the son of our God. How about all the lives lost over the kuran.Spanish inquisition. Native Americans. I could go on and on I guess what I'm trying to say is, this record is BULLSHIT! (Another word for lie) figure I would include the definition. Just in case any far away life forms should ever read this.
