I love how you're reading somehow makes the story that's 17 minutes long, seem like an hour. I get so wrapped up in the imagery.

Didn’t the message start out by saying folks transferred their consciousness to technology? How would the virus affect them? This was a good one, but that hole got me!

Really miss the “I know why we didn’t return to the moon” story rn

This was interesting. Though I couldn't help but notice a slight continuity error:

During the description of how technology had advanced, it was implied some humans became cyborgs, possibly even to the point they couldn't be considered "human" anymore. Yet these people were wiped out along with the non-augmented? In most cases, their cybernetics should have allowed them to survive. I might be misinterpreting what the person meant though.

I am going to be honest, I actually thought there was going to be some kind of eldrich horror alien in it. Glad it wasn't, that trope is a little too played out in Creepypastas. XD

You know I never find these NASA stories all that interesting, but then you start to narrate and I want to know more.🖤 I'm hooked!

Wait, wouldn't the humans who were briefly mentioned to have uploaded their minds to robot bodies still survive? Or were their brains still organic?

I like how we can molecularly deconstruct a person and reconstruct them elsewhere but can't bring species back

That boy on a roll! Also do you ever plan on going back and re-reading your older stories and adding new fx or music now that you’ve come so far ?

“It was the only thing I hadn’t put into the device”

Oh I bet it wasn’t.

Then, it turns out the hard drive is the reason for the second industrial revolution.

I honestly don't know which is more terrifying, the fact that this story and its outcome is plausible, or that I listened to it told in the mellow, dulcet tones of The Dark Somnium. Staying relaxed whilst hearing a warning of impending doom is quite honestly chilling.

Thanks Somnium. As always, you are appreciated! ❤

I really enjoyed this story. Sci-fi is one my favorite genres and this story was very captivating.

However there were some major plot holes in my opinion.
-People obviously had the technology to leave the planet long before it was too late to maintain the planet. Why didn't they leave sooner?
-They invented wormhole tech but couldn't save their planet? They had Star Trek teleporters that could break down and reassemble anything in another location but couldn't terraform another or create life successfully? What?? With that kind of matter manipulation, life would actually be simple to create.
-Cyborgs would only need a fraction of the resources as fully organic beings. Only energy (which they would have more than they need from Dyson Swarms around stars), materials to make tech (from asteroids, planets, comets, etc), and nutrients for their brains (if they were still organic) which could be synthesized from any material they find.
-They could have been living in gigantic superstructures that are actually possible with today's tech but should be a cakewalk for them.
-They invented immortality so what would be the point of procreating at an exponential rate like that?

I don't think humanity would be that stupid with the options technology could give us, especially since future tech would almost certainly allow us to raise our intelligence in incomprehensible ways.

I don't know what it is about it but I love the stories that aren't just horror. The ones like this are the ones that I always remember
