A year or two prior viewing this video I fell ill with bronchitis or a sickness related. I was negligent to believe a person could possibly bruise, crack, and/or even fracture rib bones caused from coughing. Whenever I decided to visit a doctor she suggested I may have appendicitis. From that day to the present I am so thankful appendicitis was not my case, and as unfortunate as a bruised rib may seem, sepsis is so horribly worse.

The appendix has a very important role for the body. It helps the pancreas to secrete insulin in the body and the secretion of digestive enzymes. People without an appendix are more prone to diabetes, weight gain, gastric ulcer, digestive system problems.

The appendix function is actually to MAKE the bacteria. It is also lymphatic associated tissues which removes cellular waste from the and fights off free radicals. Like the plumbing system for the cells of the intestines basically. It is true that a lot of people’s appendix isn’t doing anything but that’s due to poor diets causing the lymphatic system to back up. They should not be removing anything from the body.

I got mine removed a week ago. My appendicitis has gotten worse cos I didn't remove it immediately when it caused pain 2 and 3 (twice) years ago. It was so painful, my whole body was shivering from the pain.

Finally appendix function explained! Thank you so much! I just had mine removed 10 days ago. Been having problems with it being inflamed then recovering most of my life. I couldn’t get doctors to remove it! This time it hurt like crazy! Went to ER, it lit up on the ctscan, easy keyhole surgery walked out of hospital 25 hours later. Wondering now if this will change the autoimmune problems problems I have?

Thanks for sharing this important topic!  In addition to what you're talking about with being able to provide a flush of beneficial microorganisms, recent research has found that mammals with an appendix tended to have more lymph tissue in their cecum (part of the large intestine) which is important for the immune system.  The researchers also found high concentrations of B and T cells in the appendix; the cells that fight infection!  So there may be benefits to having an appendix.  However, it's absolutely essential to talk to your doctor if you think you're experiencing appendicitis because appendicitis can be life-threatening.  If the appendix needs to come out, then it needs to come out!
