Postpartum body changes are common and can be surprising. One of the most frequent issues is urine leaking, caused by a weakened pelvic floor after childbirth. This can happen with both vaginal and C-section births, making sneezing or jumping a challenge. Strengthening the pelvic floor through exercises like Kegels can help, but it’s important to identify if the muscles are too tight or too loose. A women’s health physiotherapist can provide guidance through an internal exam.

Back pain is another common issue, often due to poor posture during breastfeeding or weak core muscles. Some women may also experience a protruding belly from diastasis recti, where the abdominal muscles separate. Core exercises can help alleviate both back pain and the postpartum belly. Additionally, sagging breasts, often from breastfeeding and weight fluctuations, can be managed with gradual weight loss, lotions, and upper body exercises. Taking steps to address these changes can help new moms regain confidence and strength.
