Gyeon PREP vs IPA : SHOULD YOU use a dedicated panel prep? (QHD)

Home made IPA sprays are commonly used in detailing as they are so cost effective. It is possible to mix 25 litres of IPA for around £30, whereas 25 litres of a dedicated panel prep can cost around £256.25 or more.

However - are dedicated panel sprays more expensive for a reason?

The proper way to use this panel prep is to spray it on the panel & let it sit for a few seconds then wipe off. Not on the microfiber towel. Cheers 🍻

You have to completely douse the panel with ipa spray to get a good clean. And not only that but you need to use 2 towels, one for the first wipe and second to pick up the remaining oils that the ipa have brought out.

I use 2 towels with IPA. One microfiber that i spray the ipa on. Wipe the area, then use the clean microfiber quickly to remove the ipa.

It would be interesting to see if the IPA solution mix with a degreaser will work better than the IPA solution alone. Great honest to goodness video mate!

Worth adding some sles to homemade ipa but it might not be strong enough for oil removal I use upol slow

From what I have read from other people who base actually used this product is that it streaks bad. I am wondering if that degreaser or detergent that they use is what causes this. Also if it would contaminate the wax or ceramic coating causing premature failure in the wax or Cermaic coating. Have you has this issue and what are your thoughts.

My last question is since this is an Anti startup product, I would assume you could use this to also prep or clean your panel when preparing for painting??

Interesting comparison, but how does it compare to paint prep solutions (silicone remove, degreaser etc. e.g. Novol 785) ? Financially they are not that as cheap as IPA, but definitely twice as cheaper as those dedicated for detailing.

Interesting video, would have also been good to have seen how the solvent based Sonax Paint Prepare compared. I noticed on Gyeon packaging that they recommend washing the car with washing up liquid post polishing and pre-panel prep in advance of coating, and I do wonder why they would recommend this if Prep was so effective (I love it and Eraser to use btw). Is something like a Body Shop Solvent Panel Wipe e.g. Upol Slow or like Gtechniq Panel wipe not a more potent cleaner?

And what if you add 1 to 2% degreaser or apc to the 21% ipa dilution?
