When you are concerned about or make excuses for someone's disturbing behavior, you could be dealing with a sociopath, narcissist, or both. If someone is very flattering and also very cruel; and you feel you are being used, abused, and played, you are dealing with some type of sociopathy and dysfunction. At the end of the day, only a therapist can diagnose someone, over time, the key is are they exhibiting behaviour that is hurting you? Then it doesn't matter their "label", just walk away before you get in too deep

Most sociopaths are not diagnosed. I've met hundreds of them during my working years, in my family, etc. Real sociopaths manipulate therapists.

Once I was in an emergency room after a motorcycle accident, and a guy in the room next door was a gunshot wound victim who was (understandably) moaning and in great discomfort. At some point, 2 young doctors came in to examine him, and after they were done, I heard them making fun of this patient, even going as far as mocking his moans and groans. Absolutely Disgusting excuses for human beings, and despite my own injuries I felt extremely angry and wished I knew exactly who they were, so I can report both of them. It's unthinkable such individuals could end up in this line of work, but it's proof of the fact they are more common than statistical information would lead us to believe.

I got some info as a former sociopath, when we lie we try to make it obvious, like looking away or making certain hand gestures for something that's insignificant, then when we're really lying we make it sound believable so you can't tell the difference
