Bad Faith, or 'Mauvaise foi', is a central concept in existentialist philosophy, specifically in the works of Jean-Paul Sartre. It refers to the human tendency to deceive oneself in order to escape the anxiety that results from a recognition of one’s ultimate freedom and consequent responsibility.
