Catching And Eating LIVE Sea Urchin

Today, I caught my favorite food in the world. Sea urchin, also known as "uni," is the true embodiment of the flavor of the ocean. Uni is *technically* the sea urchin's genitals, but it tastes better than it sounds. It's delicate and therefore extremely expensive. The flavor palate includes a blast of gentle, soft cream with a smooth and briny finish, and it tastes almost impossibly good.

Santa Barbara uni is the best in the world, right alongside uni from long across the globe (Hokkaido, Japan). In addition to being fortunate enough to catch my favorite food today, however, I'm pleased to say that we'll be raising money to save the ocean.

Huge thanks to Justin for bringing us out on a rough diving day and being such a kind, knowledgable guide. It was his first time on camera, so show him some love in the comments!! He killed it.

when eating sea urchin, try with Italian bread, by taking a small piece of bread and scoop the good meat right out, it's delicious. One more thing, when opening the urchin, hold it with a thick cloth and open it sideways with a large knife, it should be shped like a starfish once opened, and do not eat anything else, it's not edible. I envy you.

This isn’t new to me! I’ve always done this whenever we go to the beach, we get some of the local fishermen nearby to catch some for us to eat with spiced vinegar. Super good! Glad you made this video.

In case you’re wondering why Nick couldn’t go in and film.
Divers get decompression sickness from having large nitrogen bubbles in the bloodstream which can cause major injuries. If you fly directly after diving, the decreased ambient pressure in the plane has the same effect as ascending too quickly from a dive.
