They shouldn't be learning mind blowing facts, which can be nice, interesting and wrong. They should be learning how we know those are facts, questioning them, not repeating them, and learning how to think for themselves to come up with new knowledge.

Writing as a 77 year old woman I am quite surprised how little these students know about anything important. I suspect that exposure to the real world will come as quite shock to them.
