"A little known fact" doesn't mean that it is unimportant, just not widely known. Another little known fact about snow in Australia is that there is more area of snow in Australia than Switzerland. "Retarded" means pulled or drawn back. It doesn't have to refer to a person, so I don't understand why anyone would be afraid to use the word. Same with "black". There is nothing wrong with calling an object (like coffee) black.

"There's no snow in this picture " That's because it is Summer in the picture.

Retarded is a real word. It’s a verb meaning to: delay or hold back in terms of progress or development.
ie; “our progress was retarded by unforeseen difficulties"

The first ski's appeared about 8, 000 BC in Northern China. Alpine skiing evolved in the 18th Century to assist the military in those early days. As the guy in the vid said it was Norwegians who made 'snow shoes' in Australia, which makes sense as they've been using them for centuries now.

You guys (especially Phezz) really need to listen to what is being said. He didn't say "first ski club" he said "longest continuously running ski club". Pretty hard to have reaction videos if you are reacting to what you think was said rather than what was actually said.

I was walking home from school in Sydney once and it snowed. It lasted about 30 seconds but it was exciting all the same.

First proper snow I saw was in Tasmania, we woke up and it had snowed overnight our first night there then we went into the forest and saw snow all over the trees. The mountain above Hobart is also often covered in snow.

As a Texan, the pathetic school system we have that denies any geography, science and forces "christianity" down our throats, you can't be blamed for your ignorance.
Atleast you're actively learning with your channel.
And yes, high elevation areas all over the world have snow lol.

Lol, I remember the one & only time my parents took me to the Snowy Mountains.
The car had no heating, no snow tyres, we didn't have any equipment. We spent like 4hrs there & then drove back home to Sydney. What possessed them to go on this trip so ill prepared I'll never know😁

Retarded means held back or delayed by circumstance. It’s a general English word in regular use. Whoever applied it to people was seriously wrong.

I take my kids skiing every year during the ski season…we stay on the mountain at Falls Creek…we love it…it’s just as natural as surfing & beaches during summer…

I didn't interpret this the same way as you did. The ski shoes were made on the instruction of 3 Norwegian gold miners who went to Kiama and there was a snow storm and they needed transport so they instructed the locals so obviously they were using those forms of skis in Norway. Also I believe Australia has more snow than Switzerland because it is over a bigger area. However we only have very short ski seasons like 2 or 3 months of winter. Most of the skiing takes place in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. None in South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland or Northern Territory. In 1983 a Australian film about the High Country was made and was shown in the US as it had Kirk Douglas in it. If you haven't seen it, look up THE MAN FROM SNOWY RIVER made around Merrijig in the Victorian Alps. They also made a TV series called by the same name but in America released as SNOWY RIVER THE McGREGOR SAGA with Guy Pearce. I remember scenes where they were riding in the snow. It was made in that same area.

G'day Boys, Australia has more snow fall than the Alps in Europe, it's only found in three states NSW, Vic, Tassie with ski ⛷️⛷️🎿🎿 fields in each, not on the scale of the US but still World class, cheers, have a great Christmas.

I had an american expat teacher and she would say that Australian snow is very wet and apparently in the U.S. you can get fluffy dry idea what that means.

Australia has the oldest mountain range, that is why they are so small, they have eroded over the millions of years and stopped growing. This is why you see so many deep gorges where water has eroded for a LONG time.
There is only one Double Black (Olympic rated run) in Australia. Generally it is fun to ski in Aus but there is MUCH better skiing in New Zealand.
The Hymalayas are the youngest mountain range in the world and they are still growing each year.

the linguistic use of the word "retarded" is correct in this application....unfortunately a lot of words even when used correctly have been "cancelled".

It’s weird that people say Australia in so many different ways.

There is ost-sralia which only really people from other countries say, a-stralia and ust-ralia.

You guys struggled to watch this I gather - but the problem was in the title. (NB: the following is not verbatim) CLUB SKI - it was about the Club.
Stories about small sections of the populace WILL ALWAYS seem more interesting to those belonging to that particular section. The rest of us are left struggling to watch same. It stands to reason then that the commentators whilst doing their job, may also struggle.
Living Club Member association with this historical Club Vid denotes that pride would run high and that every historical point re this club would get a mention.
This video footage ergo remains entertaining to some & not to others & therefore using the Fallon Method I must declare-
“You chose it right!”
Nb: See an extremely entertaining YouTube Vid of a Susan Sarandon/J.Fall. Interview where S remarks to J (again not verbatim) ‘Yr parents must have pissed you off @ some stage?’ And he quickly recounts the story of a recent long awaited parental holiday & the chat he & his mum had prior to that holiday with his mum mentioning having to be @ the airport by say 3am (due the general anal request that all passengers be there a million hours prior to their flight).
His response was (not 100% verbatim btw but very close) “I don’t know what’s wrong with you and dad - you booked it right!”
Trust me that Susan Saradon was immediately wracked with screaming laughter interspersed with shallow gasps for air as she turned bright red due to the lack of oxygen, her eyes brimming with tears.
So don’t be devo - it’s all good - they can’t all be gems.
You right then? … Na Yeah? OK - Cool Cool - Ciao!
