My dad's family lives in Serbia and that technique is how I noticed most people build their homes. They get cinderblocks and go from there, it's cool that people are able to have that sort of autonomy

This gives me hope with how expensive everything is. Working on getting a remote job so I can get land. Put a small structure or a camper so I can slowly build. I am really looking into some type of Earth Ship/home. Building with spare materials but also stands the rest of time. ❤

Yes! House we had for 20yrs had passive heat from the windows. Concrete floor with radiant heat throughout with vermiculite (it was the 50s so they used it). We never turned the heat up past 64 because the sun warmed the concrete floor all day. Right on you 2!

I worked in a prison as an RN that was built in 1918 The walls were 4 ft depth of concrete. I have never worked in a place that was so cold in the winter and hot as haites in the summer. No sure how yours works the way you are describing.
