Farmers' Market Haul: Shopping At The Union Square Greenmarket in NYC | Lucie Fink

Before I head out to the market, I like to grab my reusable bags (to carry all my groceries) and my compost from the freezer (to drop it off along the way)...I also layer up because it’s COLD! I shot this on a Monday, and I did not realize until I got there that it’s a lot more sparse on Monday mornings than it is on my usual trips during the weekend. It’s also winter and the virus is still a threat, so the vendors were just ⅓ of their usual number!

The farmers’ market is one of the most magical places in all of Manhattan. It’s in Union Square (14th street) and it’s filled with local vendors, candle makers, farmers, and more! It just brings me so much joy.

Here’s what I got all for $65 total!

I love getting fresh seasonal produce and buying “naked produce” (aka, in no plastic packaging). I also do occasionally have to supplement this trip with a trip to the regular grocery store because we also do eat some produce that’s not local/seasonal.

I’m working on another video sharing how I meal prep these items, so come back to the Lucie Fink channel soon to see more!

Thanks for raising awareness on picking "ugly" fruits and veggies! More on this type of content, especially on food waste, would be amazing! ❤️❤️

I absolutely love it that you pick the “funnies”. We grow all heirloom varieties on our small, no-kill, organic farm and much of our produce is not the typical, hybrid, pretty but tasteless foods!

Love it! Thank you so much! ❤️

Edited to add: SUBSCRIBED!
😁🙏🏼❤️

as a Canadian I'm always surprised when people didn't know what cheese curds are lol they're so good! :)

Carrot greens are so yum. Wash. Freeze. Throw them in your smoothies. They contain 6x the Vit. C of a carrot, and help with digestion.

You can also regrow scallions by cutting them an inch away from the root and plant it into soil.

Cheese curds are what are used in poutine! They melt well because they are such a 'young' cheese. Also so excited for you to visit an urban hive!

I pick the oddly shaped produce for the exact same reason. ❤️

Oh my goodness! You’ve never had squeaky cheese!? I hope you liked it!! A little tip, if you want it to stay squeaky leave it out for about 30 minutes before you eat them to get them room temperature and then you can squeak to your hearts delight! ❤️

Thanks for sharing! Try setting an alarm on your cell to remind you to take your vitamins (once a day, twice a day, whenever). This will help you to stay committed to your health journey. Alarms on your cell can be used for anything you don’t want to forget to do like drinking enough water, exercising, meditation or stretching, calling friends or family, cleaning/ organizing tasks, work or school assignments, me time, etc. Good luck!🙂

Hey Lucie, just to let you know GMOs don’t make fruits and vegetables look perfect, it is always good to pick the “ugly ones”. A lot of times they are modified to endure harsh conditions like drought or the heavy use of pesticides and herbicides in commercial farming. I thought I would just let you know.

Lucie, you should make poutine with your cheese curds and potatoes. (A Quebec delicacy!) If you don't like gravy, you can find substitutes.

I loved your little segment with Andrew and can’t wait for your video with him and 🐝 hive💛 I had no idea the color of the honey was because of the pollination situation and the type of flower 🌸
