This is why we love Europe so much! The more we travel, the more we realize that everywhere isn’t cheap, the US and Canada are just expensive

That's not a farmer's market. We have those shops all over the south UK, but they import their produce from all over the world just like big supermarkets.
The Bath farmer's market happens on Sundays in green park station.

If I have a lot of tomatoes, I love making a simple bruschetta with basil and balsamic (and maybe some garlic)

You could slice some into smaller portions and heat them up in a pan with a warm breakfast. Or puree some into a fine paste, add personal favorate seasonings, and top on a grain dish. And if you have leftover sause- there's always the choice of making your own special pizza. The options are endless, so you can only choose what satisfies your cravings.

The price of fruit and veg in the UK is considered usually expensive compared to most of Europe, although I would say those are good prices, especially because none of that fruit is in season (if you shot that recently). A lot of the fruit in Europe is actually grown in huge greenhouses in Spain. But I don't know if that's the case in this case.

There is a chutney you can have, maybe with momos, it's made with tomatoes, red onions, dried red chillies and garlic.
It's made by sauteing them until the onions are translucent and the tomatoes are broken down.
Then just blend it in a blender.
The ratio of tomato to onions is 2:1

With the tomatoes, I do this for a nice breakfast:
First, i would slice a small white onion into strips.
Then I would finely chop some garlic (maybe 2 cloves)
Then cook the onion and garlic in some olive oil so they are soft but not brown.
Then add maybe a handful and a bit of quartered or halved tomatoes.
Squash the tomatoes to let some of the juices out when they are soft.
Then take this out and add a fry an egg in the same pan.
Then add a small bit of butter and then toast a bagel or some bread.
Finally assemble it and enjoy!

This is quite long but it is an idea of what to do with the tomatoes. Also this only feeds one person depending on the size of onion and tomatoes

I think you should watch “How I cooked 20 pounds of tomatoes”. It has a variety of different ways to cook tomatoes and they’re all delicious!

You can cut the tomatoes in half, lay them on a baking sheet face up, sprinkle some simple seasonings on them and bake on the lowest oven temp to dehydrate them for several hours! They become these savory roasted tomatoes that taste similar to sundried tomatoes. You can put them on pizza, fresh bread with cheeses or oil and vinegar. They're SO GOOD ❤️

Those types of tomatoes on the vine are so good for grilling to serve with mushrooms for UK breakfasts and then when they’re on the last good day you can stew them all into a tomato sauce or blend and strain and have a Bloody Mary outside the cottage in the am

I'm pretty sure it's because the farms are so close there is no big transport cost, and we brits take a lot of pride in farming its very competitive

The tomatoes cut open and toasted on artisan bread in the oven, with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt it makes for a savory and umami full snack

You could make tomato jam! Or tomato soup ~ roasting your tomatoes, onion, and garlic in the oven gives the soup really good flavor

Such a great deal !!! I would love that.

Homeade pasta sauce, breakfast toast/scramble, cucumber salad, caprese salad, tomato soup, or a simple snack with salt and pepper

You could make soup, salsa, or relish. I’d definitely save some seeds to plant when you get home. I also like them sliced then add some apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper and let it marinate in the fridge for an hour. Makes a nice tomato salad. Tomato sandwiches are delicious as well.

You have to make fresh tomato sauce. I was literally blown away when I made it (I also had the same situation, found ridiculously cheap tomatoes at a farmers market). It’s thinner but so strong and sweet and tasty. Out of this world it’s literally unlike anything store bought and I never say that. I couldn’t believe how different it tasted

My grandmother always made sauce from scratch. One of her recipes was saute (med-low heat) onion, garlic, then add in tomatoes cut in half and cook first on the cut side. As they get soft, we'd start to mash them. She'd add sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder (to taste). Then add asparagus, then fresh shrimp. She'd make pasta from scratch and we'd boil it, then add the pasta to finish cooking in the sauce. Then turn off the heat and add peccorino romano and basil.
One of my childhood meals!
