Every year, I tell myself I should upgrade from my iPhone 11. Every year, I don't.

I've been using the Samsung Z fold for years. The front-facing camera has never been an issue for me since it's completely transparent, and no stupid dynamic island takes up the top screen, either. Apple keeps rearranging its camera and gimmicks to keep people upgrading.

The one thing I think you need to point out to people is that they DONT develop the new phone after the other is released. This years phone will have started years ago, same with last years. They develop new hardware, they form it, they discuss and develop the form factor, they have multiple of those. They review and decide over a number of prototypes and test and then choose the direction.
This is formed, finalised, the manufacture process, the changes needed to manufacturing etc to do that, that set in motion. Marketing then spend time working on all that side of it.

This all takes time.
Iphone 18 and 19 will already be at various stages.

I had the 16 promax delivered last week and was upgrading from my 14 promax! It only took me about an hour on the phone with AT&T’s crap tech support to really get it! It’s not enough of an upgrade so I sent it back and keeping my 14 promax as it still rocks and looks brand new. The 17 promax might be the chicken dinner worth chomping on. aluminum is the material ! and wrong the camera is gonna be better all the way around get your back straight!

Tbh phone cameras are good enough now, so companies need to stop innovating just the camera. Most things taken on a phone are just posted to social media anyways and compressed.
