My ‘11 BMW 328i has been reliable. Ive has it for two years and besides one minor leak which was only $200 to fix, nothing unexpected has gone wrong.

According to Scotty

All BMW’s are bad

All Toyota’s are good

End of story 😂

I bought my first BMW back in 2012. Since then, that's the only brand I'll buy. Do they cost more to run? Hell yeah. Does any other car feel and drive like one? Hell no.

He's so incorrect with that comment everybody knows that a naturally aspirated inline straight 6 in the three series are very reliable had three of them one had more than 260k

I’ve owned several beemers and have a new M beemer. All cars have issues. Simply maintain your Bmw and don’t buy until your financially capable.

I have a 2011 328i bought it 3 years ago and I'm surprised by it's reliability. No problems at all. I drove it in many long trips across several states with no issues. It's my first german car and I was worried when I bought it. However, I have more issues from our japanese 2012 Infiniti (ABS/Traction/4 wheel steering that are very expensive to fix). I learned recently from a BMW expert that the 2011 328i is the most reliable year/model of all BMWs he worked on. BTW, for all Toyota fans, I still own a 2007 Toyota since new so I know what reliability means :)

From my 6 year experience of owning a 01 330d E46, all i can say is this: Gets good gas mileage, never breaks down, looks good, is fast even by today's standards, doesn't rust.
The problem is that most of them are not well maintained and in 90% cases, people drive them until something expensive is about to break. The only downside as i see it is that its a pain to work on... In a way, this video is correct because most of these "older" BMWs are neglected, so they essentially are money pits.
Its more to do with the owners of these cars, rather than the cars themselves.

I've been able to maintain my BMW easily. Its just all about preventive maintenance. My 1998 540i has been bullet proof without any major issue except the CCV and a few gaskets that naturally get old and brittle. Also I've been able to code mine using a $30 15 year old Dell Laptop and a few diagnostic cables

The main reason why I started my BMW channel! 34k subs strong I’m happy to have saved BMW owners by helping them to do their own repairs. These cars are easy to work on and I have plenty of DIYs and what to look out for when buying your first BMW 😀👍🏻

156k miles on my 2008 BMW 335i Twin Turbo and just crossed the 5 years of ownership - love it to death 👌🏻

I think to say that all used BMW’s are ‘endless money pits’ is somewhat of a generalisation on a couple of premises. Firstly, how reliable a car is depends on, to an extent, how well it was looked after by the previous owner(s). Secondly, you can save costs on maintenance by doing the repairs and maintenance yourself instead of taking it to the mechanic for simple things like oil changes. Also, as far as usage goes, a 2001 318i would be fine as a daily driver provided you are meticulous about performing the correct general maintenance at the correct intervals and just generally look after it, although you may want to reconsider the car if you plan on driving many miles a year (Toyota?) :).

I think the older generation BMWs are reliable, late 1990s to early 2000s. Own an E85 Z4 3.0. Just need some rear springs and spark plugs replaced w/126k miles on it. Headlights also needed to be replaced. Minor cosmetic stuff, no oil leak, ac is running. Even the convertible roof is functional. Pretty good for being the 5TH owner of the car.
