This Tape Holds Planes Together at 35,000 Feet! ✈️🤯

You have probably seen online several times how damaged parts of an aircraft are joined together using tape that looks like duct tape. But can ordinary duct tape be strong enough to withstand strong winds, pressure, and fluctuating temperatures at an altitude of 35,000 feet? Actually, this is not ordinary tape but speed tape. It is specifically designed to repair airplanes. It is made from aluminum, so it is able to absorb heat and withstand extreme pressure. It is completely waterproof and strong.

A similar but thinner tape is sold at hardware stores to fix HVAC ducts.

My Dad was a Tarmac Worker at Brisbane Airport and when he ruined the thread on the Reel Lock on his Best Fishing Rod one of the Engineers gave him some of this and told him how to use it to repair that thread. He got another 20 years of use out of that Rod.

It is aluminum duct tape. The only difference is in what you call it to justify the price you want. I use it for many different applications. The adhesive is strong and flexible enough to provide temporary repair on such nonhigh-stress, extremely high pressure air flow related parts as aluminum aircraft skin to temporarily keep airflow from entering cracks or seams and creating more damage long enough to get the aircraft to a destination for repairs.

I didn't know it was called speed day but I use that tape quite often in the air conditioning ducts. Never knew it was called speed tape

Brilliant because if they don’t tape it the wind could get in at 600 mph and rip the wings apart

I used it for my wash mashine since 9 years and it works

It's not the tape, it's the adhesive.
That tape is used for home heating ducts.
