It can be important to recognise the difference between low and high blood sugar symptoms. Being able to spot when you're high or low and sugar can help you to manage your diabetes.

Where possible, it's best to check with your blood glucose meter, whether you are high or low, before taking any remedial action.

The symptoms of high blood sugar can include:

- Increased thirst
- Dry mouth
- Increased hunger
- Frequent need to urinate
- Feeling lethargic
- Blurred vision

If blood sugar is regularly high you may get recurrent episodes of thrush.

Very low blood sugar matches how I am feeling. I feel dizzy, confused, hungry (but it doesn´t feel like real hunger, my stomach feels empty and I need to eat), and I feel shaky. I might have diabetes. I am not overweight. I am slim, but diabetes run in my family.

I just had my first attack I think.I'm not diabetic I just love sugar I quit for about 2 weeks and today I woke up and the room was spinning I tried to get up and kept falling back down then I punched my bed and yelled and got up stumbled around to pee then 3 hours later I kept feeling this dizziness and weak and just terrable I'm glad I made it I prayed and luckly I feel god saved me he took it away shortly after I prayed it was so hard to breath and my heart was beating so hard and the room spinning I tried to stay calm focus on breathing it felt like I was ganna die but I've been at deaths door before so I stayed calm and eventually it stoped and I feel asleep for 10 hours after I just slept for 10 hours like 3 hours ago

When I get low blood sugar it’s usually when I’m making something to eat ironically. I start to feel extremely weak like I’m about to collapse, and I rush to sit down and once I sit down I can’t get back up I can’t even lift a finger I get so weak. And then I start getting loud ringing in my ears then my ears start burning, my vision almost goes completely out for at least a minute or two, I feel like I have to puke, I go from hot to cold, I feel my heartbeat pounding extremely hard, my mouth would get really dry and my brother was with me he told me I got very pale. Im undiagnosed I haven’t been to the doctor for this yet im just assuming I have low blood sugar based off of my symptoms.

Not diagnosed with diabetes but I do suffer from Lupus. My blood sugar (I get this from my dad) is low normally but when I overwork myself, or forget to eat I get really, really shaky and unsteady. I have passed out at least once from hypoglycemia and had seizures from hypoglycemia. Seriously I have also woken up with hypoglycemia.

The way I learned to combat hypoglycemia is eat 5-6 small meals, or substitute with Glucerna Carb Steady protein drinks, drink water, and carry full fat (sugary) candy and glucose tablets. I know my symptoms of hypoglycemia enough now to know when I need to get myself stabilized. If I’m hypoglycemic at work, I tell my supervisor and she lets me have a few minutes to sit and stabilize myself. (I’ve been graced with nice and supportive supervisors and leaders😁) Pedialyte (and Gatorade) are other great ways to help in a hypoglycemia episode!

I hope I could help someone out there, I know everyone with diabetes or glucose problems is different and I’m not a doctor but I study medical science for fun haha. (I am on the road to become a firefighter and paramedic, which is why I love medical science and also I’m just a huge mildly autistic nerd)☺️

This was overlooked as a possibility 5 years ago when I was in hospital for to find out what was wrong with me...(I'm on tablet medication for type 2 diabetes) yet when I felt light headed one evening at 10pm, I decided to go to bed, went to toilet first and was unconscious for 5 hours as I took mobile in the toilet with me and it said 3:00 am. I was slumped on the toilet and had no recollection as to why I was there, thinking I must have been in bed. When attempting to stand up, I fell back on the loo, with tarry black clotted blood everywhere. Not knowing what was happening to me, I tried to recollect my thoughts and could not, due to confusion as to why I was there..I had to keep mopping up my blood loss...finally making it to bed at about 4.30 am I thought I was dying..felt sick and nauseated. Live on my own as in have a pet that was crying outside the bathroom door for me, but no other human beings around me...slept a few hours and decided to ring my doctors surgery that wanted to see me as soon as possible..I felt better than the night before but was whisked off to hospital and stayed in there for 3 days whereby tests were done on me..An endoscopy to check why I bled so much, revealed an inflamed upper GI..stomach and this was decided upon as the cause of my bleeding.( o have other long standing conditions apart from diabetes which I have been now for almost 7 years) My medical notes state I'm diabetic, but in hospital that fact of my being unconscious was not linked to the diabetis but to the then warfarin to thin my blood after 5DVT'S including one of which was a pulmonary embolism..not on warfarin now but another tablet that only requires once a year testing on my kidneys as it can impair kidney functioning, which is tested at my yearly diabetic screening) the blame was put on the warfarin at that time...and my state of unconsciousness was never ever linked with the diabetis, though it was discussed and noticed I was taking a combination of pain killers ( since weaned off, all but one type) for osteoarthritis and Cervical Spondylitis ....so after reading about symptoms here of hypoglycaemia it's possible to assume now that it could have been due to falling into a diabetic coma and not the actual warfarin)? The gp I saw at my practise said the bleeding was as a result of being slumped over my raised toilet frame and seat..and suggested my blood pressure had dropped to the floor, hence the bleeding...this may well be the case, but still does not explain my being unconscious for 5 entire hours and coming to confused! This explains that it could have been my diabetes, but both the gp and hospital were only concerned with the blood loss itself...took me off warfarin and injected me daily with anticoagulant Fragmin, which I had to do myself daily at home, until told not too, and placed back on warfarin!

I still cannot recall certain aspects of my memory prior to that incidence! Thank you for your time and patience for putting this video out!

I’ve had two times when I’ve been told my blood sugar went low when it got to the point where i was crying, shaky, dizzy, irritable, and even unable to get up. I don’t if i should be concerned or if this is just normal and i shouldn’t worry about it.
