Part of me is jealous I cant get to this sale, while the rational part of me is thinking thank god!

That's EXACTLY why I don't work at a junkyard! I'd take home half of what comes in...

That is downright crazy. I would have been hauling Home Three lifetimes worth of stuff

Not bringing a cart isn't a newb mistake, it's a brilliant strategy to keep yourself from buying enough crap to fill a double B train and entirely deplete your wallet. Hard to buy that much stuff when you have to carry it by hand.

Damn! I'm a half a world away from the world's best garage sale! 😭

I predict A LOT of stuff available soon on eBay, etsy, etc...

Amazing stuff. In quantity, these Meanwell power supplies are surely worth quite the money. However, one needs a lot of patience to move these products.
Quite an excellent video, Dave! Thanks for the excellent opportunity for "Window shopping!"

Wow, I wish we had this in the UK. Sadly, good deals are illegal here.

Those Gallagher caps are for electric fencers, and they often fail.. they should be designed with a low ESD to maximize the zappiness to the fence.. Pulsewidth on the fence I think is VERY short, probably milliseconds if not microseconds
I had fencer fail and it a bad solder joint on the cap burnt all the solder and trace off, and worked its way up the cap.. globbed solder on it and it works years later

Those power supply deals are nuts! I wonder how many people are there to flog the stuff off on eBay for retail prices.

I work at a Jaycar across the river, and I can say that we have a corner full of those screw-terminal switching power supplies, that barely anyone buys from. Which is a shame because it’s kinda a goldmine, and they’re all in cardboard boxes so only people who know what they’re looking for ever go there. I mean you sure do pay the Jaycar markup for them, at least the guys with a trade discount occasionally turn up to get one, and you can probably apply for one of your own without too much difficulty.
A nice high-current 48V Meanwell would make a pretty good basis for a benchtop CC/CV variable switching power supply. With linear front-end, of course. There’s also a couple multi-tap transformers if you want to go for autoranging linear with relays, but the tap selections aren’t that great, and we don’t have particularly large capacitors.

Also see if you can find any of their vacuum fluorescent displays! They’re like $3 normally, which is cheap enough to base a project around.

I can hear the joy in Dave's voice like a kid in a candy store.

HEAPS of great items and deals, I'm mind blown and sad I am not near! I would totally have hired a boxtruck. Components, items usable as intended, and plenty of harvesting opptys. Those high current connectors! If they have the pins for sale to, dang! Jaycar has dabbled in a lot over the years, so I can imagine what else lays hidden!

5:16 Those SB50 power connectors are really good if you do ham radio. They are hermaphrodite connectors so you can use them "everywhere" and combine as you like for the moment.
19:28 Those are constant current power supplies for LED lightning, be careful not to toast anything else with them.
19:55 That's a decent switching regulator, but it seems a bit big - I think that more modern ones are more compact.
20:37 48V - if you want to feed PoE devices or some other stuff needing 48V.
20:50 That's industrial stuff. I like that they are ranging from 200 to 500V which would make them useful where I work - we have a lot of 500V, but you can use them even elsewhere where you have 3-phase power and want 24V with decent current. Likely with a DIN rail mount as well. I could have taken a pallet, but shipping to Europe would have been too expensive.
27:57 Gallagher are making electric fence equipment so there's no surprise regarding those specs listed on that canister. Farmers knows about Gallagher.

If this is the crap Jaycar has to dump can you imagine the crap in the tens of thousands of other warehouses around the world?

It's a shame, but also a relief, that I haven't seen anything like this in the UK - because knowing me, I'd buy enough of bits and pieces to last multiple lifetimes, as well as completely emptying my bank account at the same time! :)

Good vid as usual dave. It was good to meet you there. I said hi to you with a small chat. I ended up getting over $500 worth of gear for $60.

"Everyone is carting all kinds of things out..." and then someone walks out carrying a kid.. WOW.. You can buy ANYTHING there!! 🙂

I wonder how many manufacturers bought pallets of stuff just to get chips they need during _Bubblegum Tap Shoes_ .

BTW too bad they weren't selling trolleys.
