The screen was actually right side up - they just didn't send you the aussie version.

I mentioned in an earlier video, to check the -7 volt supply. I had the same scope. When the -7 volt supply fails, it fails high. Before I found what was causing the intermittent changes in vertical offset and gain, the chip for the sync failed, so I also lost all ability to sync the scope. Fixed the supply, but the sync amplifier is dead and unobtainable. Check those negative supplies before it causes more damage.

Once upon a time a 100MHz scope was a serious Bobby Dazler for any bench. Even today a 100 Meg scope is a welcome addition to a bench. Add the DDS sig gen and you have a great combo.

This level of scope will get you through a lot of troubleshooting, lab work & design work.

Some young person will have a great tool to work with that should last for years.

the fault description anomaly was because the boxes got switched. i.e 2 faulty scopes returned being tested together. Then order was given to pack for the dumpster sale and hastily ended up in alternate boxes. I bet the other box ( referred to by Dave as the second last one) said faulty display

That was a great purchase and repair in one, I have a Hantek DSO4202C because there was no money left for anything better and so far it works, whatever I repaired with it, it was repaired. Sometimes 4 channels are needed, so I will add a DSO11020E scopmeter as it has been enough for an amateur, but who wouldn't want something proper.

More likely the original owner broke the LCD then packed it all up and claimed it is giving "constant false readings" knowing the Jaycar staff would have to put it through a full calibration to check - requiring more equipment and time than it's worth. So they refunded and put it on the shelf.

they broke the screen and sent it back as "bad readings" so they would still get a refund. if the screen was found to be cracked they would have claimed it happened in return shipping and they wouldnt be able to test for an actual fault and he would get his refund.

Returns probably got mixed up in the boxes, as somebody probably wanted a screen to fix one, so grabbed the next one with a screen, and used the screen, putting the donor back together to keep the parts together.
