Welcome to your beginner’s guide to Minecraft Datapacks!

Data packs are great tools for customising Minecraft as well as creating cool custom experiences. They are an essential tool in any map makers toolbox.

In this tutorial you’ll learn how to set up your datapack, which folders go where and I’ll show some very useful tools created by the community that will help you on your datapack journey!

This tutorial is made in Minecraft 1.21.1 and may not work with older or newer versions of the game.

As a video request, I would like to see a more in depth example of the .mcfunction files. I want the knowledge to make a recipe that uses a water bottle and cobblestone to give sand, and when it is crafted, it gives the glass bottle back, if such is even possible.

I'm making a datapack for custom tools and armour for every ore in minecraft, for some reason, my datapack won't run at all even though every time I checked anything it seemed fine. Anything that could be happening? The pack format is 48 for 1.21 and the load.mcfunction only has a /say in it

idk what i did wrong but when ever i try to test the /function <namespace>:<function_name> it doesn't even work it gives me the following error: unkown function <namespace>:<function_name> my assumption is that the datapack isn't loading some how
