Negativity Sandwich - USE WHENEVER YOU HAVE SOMETHING NEGATIVE TO SAY!

The negativity sandwich is what I like to call one of my all time favorite conversation tricks. It's great for whenever you have to tell someone something negative (like giving constructive criticism, giving interventions, or even breaking up with someone)

So useful. I just want to add something similar to the Negativity Sandwich:
Whenever you need to ask something from someone first ask for the thing you need and then say something nice.
Most people compose email like this:
"Hey how are you? We should catch up sometimes! Anyway can you help me with so and so...?"
Instead try this:
"Hey can you help me with so and so.. Anyway how are you? We should catch up sometimes!"
Notice that the message is the same, only the order has changed and already the message sounds more pleasing.

Great trick. Emotional reaction in people is practically a reflex. Most people won't think rationally of critism and will simply react negatively to it. A positive statement will prepare them, the negative will reveal the message and the last positive statement will prevent them from reacting negatively. It has a lot of sense.

This is very reassuring, I'm currently working on a message to someone about why I just can't stomach them (I know, normally I wouldn't send such a thing, but context-wise it's unfortunately gotten to a point where it has to be said) and the beginning starts with me telling them some of the wonderful things about them and the take away from the time we've spent together, get's into the nasty stuff, then closes with a few nice things, and me saying I truly and sincerely hope they live a happy and safe life.

Wow, I never really knew about this and struggled to decide how I should talk about negative-ish nature issues, despite knowing alot I kind of was surprised to learn about this and now I want to try it out.

I think they also use this technique in roasts on tv. They start out with a compliment about a celebrity, then the roast and then another compliment.
