Oh damn! I think that means there'll be a safety car

Look closely and you will see the left rear disk brake is glowing red, and all the other rotors are NOT glowing.

Bernd Mayländer was on a safety car test drive to actually test the technic, but apparently due to a brake defect, it led to an accident.
Great respect, however, for the driver's skill, as he deliberately caused the car to rotate to dissipate energy and avoid crashing into the wall at over 200+ km/h, thus maintaining control over the vehicle even in such a situation.

Seems like a braking failure. The wiggles shows that the pilot tries desperatly to loose speed, and if you push up the sound a little bit he also tries to accelerate when he is completly in the backward position. Without any brakes, the only way to loose speed is tzig Zag or to reverse the car and accelerate in the opposite direction. Bernd Mayländer is a master on the tracks, I would not be surprised if it was exactly what he was trying to do by reving his Aston Martin.

As professional driver I want to share my opinion: We are familiar with the career of Bernd Mayländer, perhaps one of the most experienced drivers in the world—not necessarily the fastest, but his experience is undeniable. We all know that sometimes he likes to play with the car and even performs drifts on occasion, but this time it's different. I took the time to review several of his drifts, and it's clear that he never initiates them with the famous Scandinavian flick (commonly used in rallying to unsettle the car and start a drift). Since he drives a rear-wheel-drive car with a lot of power (either the AMG or the ASTON engine), he usually initiates a drift by accelerating a bit more aggressively than normal during a turn to lose control of the car in a controlled way. That's how he performs drifts, but never with the Scandinavian flick, which is mainly used in all-wheel-drive vehicles.

So, what happened? Clearly, the car comes at high speed after the straight, but there is no noticeable reduction in speed or even a dip of the car's front end, which is common when braking before a turn. In the last instant, you can clearly see him deciding to use an unorthodox braking method—drifting the car. That's why we see a slight left turn to then unsettle the car by whipping the rear end and starting a drift (using a Scandinavian flick, never before used by him in rear-wheel-drive vehicles). Unfortunately, the high speed didn't allow him to make it through the turn, and the vehicle began to lose the rear axle, initiating a total loss of control as the car rotated in an uncontrollable oversteer. At this point, any professional driver, especially one with his experience, would apply full brakes to try to reduce speed as much as possible and minimize the imminent damage. This can be confirmed by watching the rear of his car in the video and clearly seeing the brake lights on. But at that same moment, you can see the tires rotating and not receiving the braking pressure that would limit their rotation. This would be especially noticeable on gravel, as even with low braking pressure, the car would have locked the tires while sliding over the gravel.

Thanks to the car's safety features and the TechPro barriers, the driver and his passenger escaped with almost no injuries. Now we just have to wait for the car's investigation to find out what happened—if Aston Martin doesn't interfere to prevent any admission of a potential failure in their car.

I believe this is an issue with front brakes as you can clearly see the rear discs glowing red. He didn't spin it for purpose. It is not that easy to do it in a front engine car with huge tires.

Big brake issue. Left rear was screaming red. Rest werent. Intentional spin to scrub speed.

Rolex: It's about time!
Driver: Time for what?
Rolex: See you at the protective tires!

Breaking: Logan Sargeant starts a new career as an F1 Safety Car Driver at the Italian Grand Prix weekend. In keeping with his unorthodox approach, he ends up in the tire wall.

Interesting all crashes we've got happened all on the parabolica Corner... There must be an issue for this corner on the New surface (even the safety crashed there lol)

Didn't think it went fast enough to crash.

need to just leave that Austin Martin safety car in the trash. It cannot keep minimum pace for the F1 cars. Sorry AM, but if you want to have a safety car in F1, then build a better car.
