As a former Porsche owner and a continued fan of the brand...this is a great comparison. However, the C7 has sold me on the progression of corvette into the future. Ill admit that the Porsche (I owned a 2007)was a great road car and had good feel, however the vette was more visceral and ultimately more fun to drive than any Porsche. Maybe the aircooled 911's are more my favor but those times have passed and corvette still provides me that rawness that I want in a sports car.

The Cayman 718 GT4 will be limited production and likely MSRP between $96k and $105k (and being limited, they DO sell for those MSRP prices too).
The base Corvette C8 will likely MSRP for under $70k (maybe even under $65k?) and will outperform not only the entire Cayman/Boxster line but even the 911 Carrera/Carrera S as well.
Limited production Porsche models get gouged/sell for over MSRP at most dealers.
After the initial hype dies down, Corvettes can be obtained for under MSRP.
The manual transmission thing is a plus but not for me, I would still want the PDK regardless. The Corvette will come standard with something quite similar to Porsche's awesome (and EXPENSIVE) PDK which makes me very happy. :-)

I am glad the C8 won’t come with a manual. It means the C7 Z06 cars with a manual will not decrease much in value and may increase in value one day.

A manual C7 Z06 Convertible will be a highly sought after car one day.

This is why I love this channel you always tell it like it is even if it means giving credit to a car or manufacturer that you really don't care for!! Just Like a manual transmission being offered in a 2020 model year car is rare so is someone keeping it real on the internet!!! Keep the content coming, your channel is one of my absolute favorites!! You're never going to see that Cayman being sold new for that stated price. lol It will get dealer markups and then of course, the owner will go through the gauntlet of expensive options that Porsche always does for the most mediocre of items.

Having said that, Corvettes (C6 and C7 at least) have been praised for the best "bang for the buck" outperforming cars tens of thousands of dollars more... even sometimes cars costing twice as much or more. With the C8's base price hovering at just below $100k, it better bring performance that competes not with Caymans, but with Ferrari and Lamborghini. I know the Boxter and Cayman have hovered around Corvette levels MSRP prices in the past, but honestly, Corvette always fights way above its weight class with examples like the old C6 Z06 rolling Lambo Gallardos.

That GT4 is an awesome track car especially with manual, $100, 000 for a Cayman, I'll wait for the Z06.
The problem is, when you get hooked on the power of Z06 or ZR1, it's hard to get excited with something in lesser power.

It's HARD to get in and out of Cayman and Boxster if you drive it as DD.

Loved the comparison J. Unlike yourself, I've always been a huge Porsche fan. I've had three of the German gems. People will contemplate higher end brands if this Mid Eng Vette falls short of our expectations. Great upload my friend. Thx 👍👊😉

I agree Porsche dont look anywhere near as good as a Corvette..never have done. The engine sounds so tame as well.
