Let's overview the Systemd free Arch based, rolling release distribution Artix. Artix comes with many flavors in addition to your option of a Systemd alternative. Installation was clean cut and as easy as installing Manjaro. I will be using Artix Linux as my main distro for the time being.

I have been using Artix Linux XFCE openrc on multiple PCs for two years.
It is for me the best distro among all those I have tested and used for twenty years.

For anyone wondering, the Artix theme is a variation of a theme called vertex

the subtle modifications they made to stock KDE are pretty slick IMO, very tasteful

Good video. I installed the community-qt version and really liked it. It is fast and efficient. It looks very attractive too.

"right out of the gate" is used four times in this video, and as a non-native English speaker it's quite funny xD
Greetings from Sweden, thanks for the video!
PS: Using Manjaro right now

Enjoyed the video and I love using Artix, I use the runit version on my Dell Latitude with 8gb., ram and it is very fast to boot and runs like a dream.

For services most packages comes with an extra package. Networkmanager to run you also need networkmanager-runit. The same goes for openvpn if you got any issues with VPN. I'm really failing at explaining here :D but if you install networkmanager-openvpn there going to be an networkmanager-openvpn-runit for example, wich you need to be able to start the daemon. If I remember correctly

I recently ran this for a while--- 2023- for about a month-- LOVE IT-- the ONLY Arch anything I really LIKED.. It's simple, VERY FAST and it just WORKS-- no updates messed it up like the other arch distros i've tried..

I'm on guix now but I remember s6 booting up in a second in a vm with 2 threads and 4 gigs ram. Display managers take 10plus seconds tho

Sounds like a good base for people who wants to customize Linux to how they want it down to everything. I want to switch over from Windows to Linux and I think that this with KDE Plasma seems like the best choice

I think this is the best linux distro for people that are into linux or want to get into linux. Maybe I will switch to Artix. Currently too comfortable with Manjaro GNOME.

Being not so knowledgeable about Linux, I would have liked to know what difficulties using an alternative can cause for the user? Most apps and services might have used systemd, so would they have a hard time working with this? Would there be a learning curve if someone decides to use this? Any changes if one wants to build a software from source? Basically, what are the implications of using an alternative.
