The kernel actually likes to have swap, even with 32GB of ram, my system uses a tiny bit of swap. The virtual memory management subsystem within the kernel utilizes swap space to optimize memory use, even if there is plenty of memory. Having swap space in no way negatively affects performance, not having swap space may impact performance, there is no reason not to have some swap space.

One thing about swap is that its not just 'extra memory'. Its also used to keep track of what memory needs to be deallocated, junked out etc.

The best use of swap partition is hibernation

Another benefit of using Artix instead of Arch, is that neofetch logo is even better than the Arch one.

LXMusic is a music player, playlist-oriented while mpv is an all-around media player (the best one at that). Also, lxmusic is only 485K installed and you can't get any more ligthweight than that. Plus, it's part of the LXDE software group, along with lxtask, the desktop's default graphical task manager.
This is an overall good review, but I think you've missed the point of the 3 different kinds of media Artix offers: base (for CLI installations from the ground up, for experienced users), minimal like the one you reviewed (GUI installer and a bare minimum set of software to get a working desktop live or installed) and community, which offers a near complete collection of programs to give users a full desktop experience (yes, htop is there :-) ). As such, it only makes sense for the minimal installation media to only include basic, lightweight software to get the job done and let the users decide what to install later on their daily drivers. I mean, who would use lxmusic anyway instead of clementine, unless severely limited by their hardware?

why was midori taking so much CPU power?

Sorry if you've answered this, I know you use Gentoo but if you had to choose between: Arch, Artix, Void, or Alpine which would you choose for your main daily driver?

A few others have commented about this already so I suppose I needn't necessary bring this up; just adding to the pile that swap is indeed a good idea no matter how much ram you have!

I really like your reviews - this one was very good. Not many out there reviewing these off the main road distros. I don't have any issues with SystemD other than the fact it probably does eat up more ram but I'll leave the hate for the others to bicker over the pros/cons of SystemD. I just like how little ram this uses. Right now I'm using POP!_OS and really enjoy it but since the update it consumes a lot of ram off the boot like 1.3GB. Starting to feel like I'm back on Windows 10. I have Manjaro i3wm-gaps on another machine that I really like too but probably will just keep as my second machine. I'm not a die-hard stuck on one thing type of person. I can use just about any Linux distro and go with it.

I've looked at this on live mode-- and LIKE IT-- I think I could install it- but THANK YOU for this video-- it helps to know what to expect.. :)

I'm skeptical about whether RAM usage while idle is really important. Things being loaded into RAM means they're faster to access, and not all RAM usage is actually being used, some of it is just cached.

When installing from USB iso it refuses to load the desktop. Gets stuck at log into local host. Requesting aid.

I have used arch but network manager would not show Mt wd my cloud or allow nextcloud to be installed.
I like the arch artix but will it show the network drives. I am using mx Linux it had samba share built in.
Does artix?
Mx runs xfce so artix Linux can to.
Keen to change, love arch.

I've found some programs don't work properly/at all if there is no swap space on the computer. That said, it does not need to be a swap partition, a more easily resizable swapfile works just fine.

Ok, so, I like the video, but it is not fair to mention runit, openrc and s6 and not tell us the difference between them and which one is better :/
