I think a lot of the issues EV supporters (particularly Tesla fans) tried to brush under the carpet are starting to take effect. The cost and time it takes to charge away from home, insurance is very expensive and the charging network even for Tesla is mainly on main arteries. Go off the highways and trying to find a charger gets a bit tricky. Hybrids solve those problem and they're cheaper than an EV.

Tesla never diversified their product line-up enough to maintain their dominant market share for EVs. Had they established an affordable model without all the bells and whistles they would have cornered the market.

But musk wanted a cybertruck, and a rodster, and robots… because thats more exciting. Nobody memes about affordable, sensible, economy cars.
