Elon Musk shares with ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ why negative news has such an effect on people and how the majority of previous Twitter employees were used for censorship.

FOX News Channel (FNC) is a 24-hour all-encompassing news service delivering breaking news as well as political and business news. The number one network in cable, FNC has been the most-watched television news channel for 18 consecutive years. A 2019 Suffolk University poll named FOX News as the most trusted source for television news or commentary, while a 2019 Brand Keys Emotion Engagement Analysis survey found that FOX News was the most trusted cable news brand. A 2017 Gallup/Knight Foundation survey also found that among Americans who could name an objective news source, FOX News was the top-cited outlet. Owned by FOX Corporation, FNC is available in nearly 90 million homes and dominates the cable news landscape, routinely notching the top ten programs in the genre.

It’s Pareto’s principle 20% of the people do 80% of the work. That’s how he fired people and twitter still works just fine.

Twitter, before Elon was a government office company. Over staffed, under performing.

Elon is absolutely right when he mentioned no one cared about negative events happening on the other side of the world 200 years ago. We were only concerned with negative news in our village. The issue we face today is that all news is instant and can be overwhelming. As an example, no one knew or cared about hurricanes running rampant through mostly uninhabited land half a world away 100 years ago but now, not only do we hear and see it live, we attribute it to our imminent doom as a planet.

Going from 8k people to 2k people and improving the company is a business case study for the ages

"If you're not trying to run a glorified activist organization, and you don't care that much about censorship; then you can really let go of a lot of people" - hit the nail on the head.

This was the internet pre-2014/15, those were good times.

So nice to see two people can still sit in a room and have a conversation that revolves around rational thinking and reality. Don't see much of this in an interview anymore.

Remember like 6 years ago when Elon was the lefts guy, then Elon called out the cult and is now the lefts second worst enemy? 🤔

I love hearing Elon talk because he's actually involved in the stuff other people just pretend to be.

The fact that he fired 7k people and Twitter kept on functioning, didn't miss a beat, tells you that it was way over staffed. If a hospital had 10k employees and 7k were fired instantly, the hospital would shut down and wouldn't be able to function. Cut a business by 80% and it will tank if it actually requires that much manpower

Former Twitter workers can work as trauma counselors for depressed npr hosts.

Still a fan of Elon. Love his labeling of CBC as
69% government funded.

You know someone’s brilliant when they come off awkward as hell, stutters & chooses his words wisely, always critically thinking

This man made Twitter truly a open platform. Reminds me of the internet in the early 1990s where anything perceived good or bad could be expressed without censorship or “moderation”. Social media spell the doom of the Wild West internet.

there were just under 8, 000 staff members when he bought the company. Now, Twitter is left with around 1, 500 employees

"The news is attempting to answer the question, "What is the worst thing that happened on earth today?"."

That's a genius summation.

"You don't need all those people unless you are trying to run a glorified activist organization" 😂
