The talent in this band was beyond measuring. Each had a distinct yet perfect vocal for the material they wrote and performed. All played more than one instrument too. There was truly a magic going on when this band played. Maybe it was appropriate that they were just called The Band. No other tag would have been right. RIP Richard Manuel, RIP Rick Danko & today RIP our beloved American Levon Helm. Together, all of you were musical magicians. Great melodic spells you conjured for us.

Watkins Glen in 1973 was the epitome of great music for a day: The Band, Grateful Dead & Allman Bros.

Robbie has joined the rest of the Band. Garth is the last man standing. RIP Robbie.

The Band is truly an excellent musical group - great song writing, 3 distinct and exceptional singers, key board sound ahead of it’s time, effortless and incisive guitar, propulsive drumming and all these mesh perfectly to create the sound of The Band

Thank you Martin Scorsese, for this beautiful documentary, an elegy to the greatest period in rock music, and to one of its greatest bands. Thank you, gentlemen.

This is one of the all time GREAT live performances. In 2 min. 48 sec. with Levon setting the beat, Richard's desperate yet powerful voice and the combined musicianship of one of the finest groups assembled in the 20th century. This is in my top 5 live performances of my lifetime! I don't know how it could be beat?

I've only heard a couple of The Band's songs when my mom gave me this DVD for my 20th birthday... My life wasn't the same after that. The talent, the joy, the music...

The Band = Rush of Folk Music. A lot of people just don't appreciate their greatness.

The gig would have been a once in a lifetime experience..I'm sad to say that we may not see the likes of it again.

"Somebody once said he had a tear in his voice, " Helm said of Manuel.

The world should be grateful that these 5 guys got together to make such great music. What are the odds that 5 superb musicians, including 3 great singers, would find themselves in the first place. Still, another couple of albums while they were at their peak would not have hurt.

Has anyone ever sung or sounded like Richard Manuel? No. Never. One of a kind.

For some reason it’s 2:00 am and I awoke from a deep sleep with “Oh the Shape I’m In” in my brain. Had to come here and get a helping of sheer bliss. And it had to be the live version. I’m 68 years old. What wonderful music God let me experience in my youth!!!

For some reason I always seem to forget how much I love Richard's voice. It is so awesome! To be honest, I like all of their voices on various songs!!
