How to fix Something Happened Error with Windows 10

Many people who are trying to upgrade to Windows 10 see a message that simply says "Something Happened" Today we look at the three easy things you can do to solve it.

I have another folder to that is in there its called $Windows.~WS what should i do with that.

I tried all above methods but still i get something happened error code 0xc1800103 – 0x90002 .
i have 200GB free, my windows 7 is genuine, and i have cleared Software Distribution deleted all files in C:\$Windows.~BT, but still i cant upgrade or download iso file .

Disk space is very important. Using the "upgrade" path, after Win 10 is installed, the Windows.old directory on my system is about 21GB in size.  This allow me to revert back to Win 8.1 within 30 days. So in the meantime, I have 21GB less space to work with.

i have tried all the above methods i still get the something happened error in a small white window unlike the purple one. the installation stops at 24%

So I have 400gb free memory and it's an HP american bought laptop with windows 7. I've deleted Windows~BT. I've tried at least 5 times and I still get the error. any other suggestions? I have windows 10 already installed in another HP laptop of similar brand yet this one still refuses to download.

I'm still waiting for the upgrade to windows 10. I checked my windows 7 update I had 15 fails for the windows 10 update already and I dunno what's happing or going on... On the window 10 reserve app it said to click ok to notify when your update is ready, but I'm still waiting.. I also got the file you said and also the ws file aswell in my c drive...

hey...my window 10 is not downloading updates...its showing Downloading 0% but not downlaoding..so what should i do. (I kept it 1 day even it didnt download even 1%)

My problem is the windows 10 installation always fail and usually around the 37%. Anyway to fix this

The reason you get the 'something happened' message is because you are moving to Windows 10.  Save yourself a lot of trouble in the long run and go Linux. :)

I have 385GB free, my language is the correct one, and I deleted all files in C:\$Windows.~BT, but it still says the same message:

Thanks, I was having the folder $Windows..., that may have come up when I tried installing from downloaded files, but later was trying the update route, , ,
