I feel bad for the man's mental health issues, but this is not acceptable, and he should receive the maximum time in jail. Those passengers will now have to live with this traumatic experience for the rest of their lives. He has now caused everyone on that flight to have mental health problems.

Would not expect something like this to happen in S.Korea, unbelievable what he did, now he faces up to 10 years in prison

He must have an anxiety issue..He can take help from airplane crew bit opening emergency gate and put life in danger of others is not good...

he must have had bad flight anxiety and been in flight mode (no pun intended!). he could probably not think straight at the time of opening the door in panic.

I wonder how many times during the flight he tried to open the door. Those doors are prescribed for most of the flight so the time he could have opened it would.only be around take off and landing time.

They need to start screening passengers on planes. To hell with people's privacy and the HIPAA law; society is getting too dangerous now. The staff need to know if there is a passenger with serious mental issues on board their plane.
