No no, that’s how Parisians speak. Thank goodness I moved to Switzerland, it’s so nice being able to understand the people around me.

if anyone finds this comforting, that's kinda how young generations talk (especially if they're with friends), but my grandma says she can hardly understand a word when we talk so it's not just confusing to foreigners, it's also confusing to anyone over 40

Oh actually the gap between academic french and spoken french is really interesting stuff to study in linguistics. I won't go in details but spoken french is one of the rare languages in the world that complements itself on a monthly basis, with new vocab added, especially since the early 2010s. Internet changed the way we talk (and still does!). It's fast, it's efficient, and the french language has the room to match that speed and efficiency by tormenting its grammar rules and still makes sense.

So if you want to learn spoken french, find french spaces on the Internet. French Twitch streamers and YouTube channel are really good places to start. And don't be scared to interact, we LOVE to talk.

Good luck ❤️

Talking languages in school be like:
"My name is ... i like pizza. I have 2 cats. I have no siblings. I went to the cinema last week. In the future, i will eat pizza. Do you like pizza?"

am a French teacher, and young people can indeed speak like that among themselves, but not in front of adults, teachers, or even their parents. Moreover, it is still limited to certain groups. At my school, the students
speak very well. In fact, I incorporate their typical phrases into my videos.

True, I also learned french for a few years and always got the highest scores, but still it's difficult for me to understand the native french speakers, because of their accent and they speak the words so quick

Merci à tous les anglophones que je lis ici, qui témoignent d’un amour de la France et de la langue française. Vous apprenez notre langue (ou essayez de l’apprendre) et c’est tout-à-fait louable
🙏

It was like this in Italy as well. And what was extremely considerate was when the locals realized I was trying to speak Italian and not just assume they spoke English, they spoke more slowly, didn't get impatient with me and were appreciative of my efforts. They were also much friendlier towards us.

Any native speaks their language faster cause they don't need to think, it's for anyone. The first people were thinking what to say
