One of the most popular drinks in the Old West was Basil Hayden Kentucky Bourbon. It started in 1796 and was favored by George Washington shortly before his death in 1799. During the 19th century it was the most popular bourbon whiskey and remained so until probition in 1920. After the recall of the dry bone law, and probition it regained some of it's popularity and remains today as a venerated bourbon of today and yesteryear.

I think the actress who said, ”That’s the good stuff” is Linda Hunt who stars as Henrietta Lange on NCIS Los Angeles. I didn’t realize that she’s been acting that long. I really enjoy her character on that show.

Old Forester is one of my favorites, especially the Rye. Another great video Santee.

I I have heard that the term "a shot of whiskey" came from the practice of trading a small glass of whiskey for a revolver cartridge if the drinker was short of cash. True?

i love the old west saloon scenes in movies, i just love how a person bellies up to the bar and orders a whole bottle of whiskey, a mug of beer and a shot glass

Fun fact: Tarantula juice was actually developed into its own drink later on. It was mostly made with whiskey, but had a few dollops of poison to give it a deadly tang.

In Nevada there's a little whistle stop east of Reno called "Pizen Switch" that once hosted a frontier-era bar.
Personally, my favorite firewater is 151 proof British Naval Rum. It lives up to its nickname and tastes naturally of burnt sugar.
Put a flintlock on the side, tie that wild rag around your head, and we can go reenacting like pirates!
A few neat shots of naval rum will have you saying "aarrrggh!"

Old Grandad used to be my favorite. Sometimes I would mix it with 7-UP..oh that was some good stuff..Mmm Mmm. Can’t forget about a good cigar to go with it but I gave all that up years ago.

A whiskey drinker doesn't have a problem, as long there's enough whiskey.
