Mr. Beef is the one place I wish they would've gone, but Johnnie's, Al's and Pop's are elite for sure. Doing one with each of the Chicago guys was a great play. Well done as always.

I grew up on that pops. Beef and mostaccioli for every family party in Mt. Greenwood. Able to carry that tradition out to the burbs now too with their Tinley and Mokena locations.

growing up in Elmwood Park, 50s-60s we always went to Johnnies on North Av. for beef..also being Catholic we couldn't eat meat on Fridays, Johnnies offered pepper and egg sandwiches on Fridays...i'm craving one right now...

Shoutout Pop’s. Carl’s dad is a true Southsider. Not surprised to hear the St Rita slander from some Rice guys

I keep thinking about the show The Bear since it's literally about an Italian beef shop in Chicago. Great show.

I discovered Johnnie's in the summer of 1990 when I started working at a commercial real estate appraisal firm in Chicago. We were out one morning looking at an industrial property in Melrose Park and after we'd done the inspection my partner said, "Now we're going to Johnnie's!" Been going there ever since. (And I went to Brother Rice, which the fellow from Pop's mentioned. Been there lot too.)

Chicago has a tone of great beef sandwiches, but my favorite is Pop’s. I was introduced to this epicurean delight my freshman year of high school in 1983. I’m at the 127th & Harlem locations at least twice a week!

This reminds me of the old series 'Chicago's Best.' I used to watch that show on YouTube religiously. Chicago is definitely doing Italian beef, Pizza and Hot Dogs right!

You guys need to try Roma's Italian Beef and Sausage on 4237 N. Cicero Ave. Excellent beef, and their giardinara is spot on perfect!

Johnnies combo has 'em all beat. This is because of the charcoal grilled Italian sausage
