You lie there in bed, blissfully lost in a dream that will fade into the recesses of your mind upon waking. But then, abruptly, consciousness pulls you back to reality, and you're met with an unsettling shift in the air. Something sinister lurks in the shadows, completely changing the vibe of the once-peaceful room. Your muscles refuse to obey as if bound by invisible chains, rendering you motionless and vulnerable.

Dont get me started on those fucking things. Netflix tried to get me and my family to be on their show HAUNTED, but my mom is old and didnt want to fly to LA. Growing up in the country before the internet we saw and heard things, stories and thought that its something that only happens to your family. Maybe even just being isolated and a product of superstition and religion. Then when social media pops up, you realize theres a massive community of people who experience this crap. The interesting thing about it is that, according to this ghost tour I took in savanna, you're not suppose to talk about it or u conjure them up?

So I saw a shadow person when I was a kid, but I was wide awake and playing at the time. He scared me so badly I refused to sleep in my room again and my parents had to move my bedroom to the ground floor of the house. I didn't find out until years later that others had seen the same thing and called it the hat man. Thank goodness I only saw him once.
And I have dealt with sleep paralysis, mostly in my teens and 20's. I rarely experience it now. But when it does happen I feel the same overwhelming dread and fear that I felt when I saw the shadow person. I never saw anything outright when I went through sleep paralysis, more like I could see things clearly in my mind but my eyes couldn't see. I also heard and felt things, like feeling the indent in my bed near me while "seeing" in my mind a figure leaning over me and placing their hand near me where I'd felt the indent. I eventually learned to just focus all my willpower on moving a toe and as soon as I could manage that, I broke free of the paralysis. I know there's a scientific explanation for it, of the body basically falling asleep before the brain does, but it sure as heck FEELS supernatural when it's happening and definitely leaves you feeling very shaken afterward.
